So I am going to Portland Maine for a few days for work and wanted to pick up some Bissell Brother cans. Turns out the brewery is closed the day i will be there. Are their cans available elsewhere? how hard is it to find? any good spots for craft up there?
Cans are very rarely out in distribution, so I would say it's very hard to find in retail outside the brewery. On draft usually is not a problem in Portland. Yes there are tons of good spots for craft beer up there.
Follow the Bier Cellar mailing list. They get deliveries of Substance and other BBB cans. That is your best (only) bet outside of the brewery. Worth a stop either way, they will have some great local brews and will be able to suggest options. You should have no problem finding it on tap. Craft bars that are worth a stop are Novare Res, King's Head, Little Tap House and others. Check the Portland section of Places on this website. There also is a Craft Beer Cellar in the old port. Gets picked pretty clean by tourists but will have a decent selection. RSVP is a traditional package store that has a great craft selection.
