Oh I remember the one we did. It was a while ago but I do remember. Trading within the same state is always difficult...

1: I am a Bruery member because I really like their beers. There's a lot to be said for a system that you pay for membership, find a trustee, and wait in zero lines for beers you know you're going to like.
2: Melange #14 tastes exactly the way I hoped and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I did pound a Proclamation Derivative Galaxy after mowing the lawn but now I'm back to the barrel aged dark beers I love.

Mini vertical of 2014 & 2016 Sourrento tonight. 2014: vanilla notes are at the forefront. 2016 definitely very lemon forward at first, but vanilla came out more as the beer warmed up. All around great beer in both years.

You make some excellent points on #1.

I haven't tried the Sourrento, but it sounds good.

How does Melange #14 compare to #12? I LOVED #12.

I'll get to it eventually. I've definitely cut back a lot in recent months. For my first year in RS I maxed everything and bought extras like an idiot. Then I got into HS and I was still maxing everything like an idiot. I've finally stopped maxing things out but I'm still sitting on a mountain of beer(42 cubic feet of packed chest freezers, a nearly full fridge, and 20 something cases sitting out) I also have some stuff I need to ship from FiftyFifty and Rare Barrel though.

Exactly this. I used to max every time, and now I find myself spending much more on MT/Monkish/HPB/Rare Barrel. Still a few releases I purchase, but I find myself skipping many altogether now. Spend to get into HS, and then coast.

totally different beers. #14 isn't spiced. just a blend of "barleywine and old ale"

This. Every brewery does a bad beer once in a while, but the ones from them I haven't liked have been very minimal. I'm not a hop guy at all either and The Bruery doing very little with hops is a huge plus, and lastly my go to styles are English BW/Old Ale and sours, followed by big stouts, and that's the majority of their beers.

Broke in my The Bruery snifter tonight. I really like this glass. My Spiegelau tulips are my go to glasses for big beers, with my The Bruery tulips as a second choice. But I think I've found a new go to glass for big beers.

Like many of us, I have more glassware than I need, but I'm glad a made room for this one,

Christ. End of this year at the Bruery is going to punish my wallet.

Just got back from the tasting room today and it's definitely nice to be able to walk in now and just order right away. Thank you, Terreux! Quad Tonnellerie and Wee Heavy Coconuts among the best things on right now.

Then there is the other approach.

Get into RS, buy to much beer the first year, then realize you are buying more than you drink so you start to scale it back and except that HS may be out of reach, but also realizing RS, in and of itself, is a great program.

For many of us, RS enough, and we shouldn't lose much sleep on not getting the HS invite.

And as much as we love The Bruery. Its not the only brewery we have our eyes on.

I second the increased comfort level in the tasting room now that they have two.

As for the best thing on tap, Marzipan Black Tuesday is quite good.. I wish they would bottle that.

I also enjoyed the chrono flight. It was nice to try them lined up.

but I also like Quad Tonnelerie and Wee Heavy Coconut..

I tried Quad Tonnellerie on tap at Spokeasy in Fresno this week, and really enjoyed it. I was a little iffy on a sour quad going in, but it was a nice surprise.

I'm not sure flavor profile "trader" is supposed to be... salty?

Maybe trader Joe's? I see a lot of Bruery bottles at my local TJs. Been a nice change with Modern Times Accumulated Knowledge.

Could be a reference to Trader Vic's and Mai Tais. Maybe like a spiced rum flavor?
