Has Spruce made it to Southwest Michigan yet? I plan on hunting tomorrow.

Is it going to be super limited even in MI this year? My dad snagged me two six packs easily last year when he was in Grand Rapids for the weekend.

Not to derail the Spruce Pilsner talk, but thanks for the fresh Huma in mid-Michigan. Easily the freshest and best Huma I've ever had!

Bought a Sixer of Spruce Yesterday. I really loved Juicy Tree and this is my first go at Spruce Pilsner.

I like it a lot. It taste like an IPA to me mixed with a Douglas Fur. A Lot more Spruce flavor than Juicy Tree. The 10.4% ABV is super well hidden.

Id like to see an Imperial Juicy Tree!

10.4%?! Last year's was 7% and it kicked my butt. The booze is so well hidden and smooth in this brew I drank half a growler and was done for the day.

Great Short's tap take over in Lambertville last night. 47 different beers on tap and Joe was present. Hoppin the Cherry, Dock Sitting IPA, Chocolate Giddy Up & Celestial Critter were standouts. Cheers!

Was able to get a six pack of Spruce Pilsner from my local place. Only got one case in. Still have yet to try it as I'm at work right now, but will definitely try it later tonight!

That menu is insane. I missed Hoppin the Cherry at the pub by a day a week ago, what did it taste like? From the description it sounds like Pan Galactic made with cherries.

That is a great way to describe it. It had a very good balance of cherry. It was not too much but the cherries are in there. It was what I was looking forward to the most and it did not disappoint.

This isn't necessarily news, but a couple coincidences made me want to post this.

First, my father-in-law sent me a text asking what I thought of Space Rock. A bit out of the blue, since he rarely drinks beer and when he does it's not from micros. He then asked me if I wanted some, and I replied that yes, I enjoy any of Short's year round lineup.

He texts me back saying he picked up Bellaire Brown. A little surprising, since he asked about Space Rock, but, whatever.

So I start thinking about Bellaire Brown and how long it's been since I really sat down and enjoyed one. Then I think about how out of all the flagships, Brown really seems to be overlooked, and, in my opinion, underrated.

Then I get on here and I see the thread in Beer Talk from today about Brown ales being the most underappreciated style. And now I'm thinking hell yes, browns are underappreciated and, dammit, I'm gonna show Bellaire some love.

So here's an appreciation posting for what I think is Short's ever-reliable, kinda overlooked, and always excellent Bellaire Brown. I'll be drinking some tomorrow night.

A few weeks back on vacation I managed to have tried everything on tap at the brewpub and decided to revisit some of the older/original beers I first remembered from them. It's easy to forget the beers you first enjoy from a brewery when the put out so many great and unique beers.

I feel the same way. Every time I'm at the pub I immediately go for everything that's pub only first. Although this year I walked away with a crowler of Beach Wheat and Chocolate Wheat each, both of which I've had times before. Pretty sure I'm getting nothing but crowlers from now on.
