To be honest..in my opinion the crowler is a thing of the past now we have the insulated growlers.
Crowlers barely got started and already obsolete.
I got a couple in the past.. if i forgot my 32 oz growler. I dunno, even worse than a growler have to drink it all at one sitting.
Now i bought a great insulated 64 oz on line ( $19.95)..have no need.

Crowlers are targeted at people who trade. Dropping truth bombs.

    Yo.

Truth. I really don't get it vs a growlette/grenade/growler if you don't plan on mailing it (or sitting on it, which I still don't get why people try/want to try and do that with growlers).

    Also, Reuse > Recycle

They're handy for going to parties, actually. I took a crowler last night to a friend's house and didn't have to worry about taking a glass growler home, which was nice.

I like the fact that they keep for up to a month. I've run into the issue of filling two growlers from far-off, seldom-visited breweries, then failing to down the purchased gallon of beer within the following few days. Normally, I'd say, "Gallon of beer in a few days? Challenge accepted!" However, life's little interfering details, like work, parenting and sleep might make it a challenge. I might hit up Fremont today for a crowler of Ales for ALS and, if available, their pilsner, have one this weekend, and one a weekend or two later.

On the next list update, I'll note Chuck's as the Central District location. I've messaged the Greenwood location to confirm, but I don't believe that location has a crowler machine.

They've had a crowler machine at Greenwood for some time now.

Well, there is the outdoors factor. Hiking, tubing, sex by the river, whatever, a crowler might be a better choice than a few cans.

Just FYI 32oz prices at Growler Guys SE now include extra $1 they used to charge for a crowler.

A crowler will last several weeks to months in my fridge. Sometimes I pop into Growler Guys and see 3-4 things I want to try. Instead of carrying around 4 expensive flip top growlettes, I can just grab a couple of extra crowlers for the same price.

I travel for work often, and running into a bottle shop/brewery that does crowlers is amazing. Flying with one, as mentioned, is so much less stressful than a glass growler.

I'm all for crowlers. Whenever I'm in Seattle, it allows me to pick up a few draft-only beers that I can reliably enjoy without time pressure (plus I don't have to worry about running short on growlers I did bring). If I were more local, then sure, I'd use the growler preferentially.

I'm mercurial and sometimes get the hankering for a beer from Growler Guys when I'm already away from my growlers.

I can verify that Pelican does crowlers now out in Pacific City. I snagged their BeakBreaker DIPA...which is honestly their best brew.

That's the biggest boon to me: whether you brought your own glass or not you can leave with packaged beer. Viva crowlers!

Not to derail, but I've always thought of Pelican as sort of a one hit wonder with MoaS which is, honestly, one of the best english style barleywines I've ever had. May have to check this one out now.

Went to Public Coast Brewing in Cannon Beach this weekend. You can get Crowlers filled there. I can't speak for the food but the beer was decent.
