Savant Blanc was Chardonel grapes, not Chardonnay. It was in Chardonnay barrels, however, which gives it the extremely buttery flavor that I think put a lot of people off of it.

Russian River Temptation is Chardonnay barrels (not grapes) as well.

7eventh Sun Round Hole was Chardonnay barrels with "white grapes" (not necessarily Chardonnay), but that's a pretty low bottle count release.

Casey did a Chardonnay Fruit Stand.

Honestly with this one I'm expecting something similar to New Holland's Incorrigible (ish, anyway.. obviously different style of beer), except with way more booze and depth.

Part of the winter??? It literally was part of fall 2015, all of winter, and part of spring 2016.

Technically winter doesn't start until December 21st or thereabouts. But we all know Minnesota's winter starts earlier than that.

And for the benefit of those without Facebook (@croush ) here is the FB post from New Glarus:

Yeah, if it was brewed Nov 2015 then the label is wrong, there is no way it was in barrels for two winters.

Arguing about when winter starts.... I'll leave that for Tbone to worry about

Are we thinking about this winter thing a little hard? Winter starts in 2015 and ends in 2016 so maybe that's what they are talking about...

The only thing I can think of is that they meant the cool winter of 2015 - 2016? As opposed to the winter of 2016-17?

Are you saying the winter that starts in 2015 doesn't last until 2016? The label doesn't say 2 winters, it's just written a way to give beer nerds a reason to think they're smart.

Probably looking in to this too much.... but it says "Winters of 2015 and 2016"... if they didn't mean two winters then it wouldn't be plural

I think we all know what they meant it was brewed at the end of the year which means from brew to bottle it was 6 months but that 6 months spans 2 years. The odd wording doesn't obscure the meaning IMO.

I am more curious how they made a 10% abv sour blond start to finish in 6 months barrel aged or not.

We are all looking at it too much . I'll add to the fun. Winters plural implies two winter seasons like you said and it's the same singular winter season which goes from 2015 (Dec) through 2016 (Jan, Feb).

I really hope they clear up this issue before they sell it or they won't see a dime of my money!

Haha, maybe in Illinois winters are 2-3 months. WI winters last like 6 months. So maybe they intended it to be "winters" (plural) since a WI winter is twice the duration than most other states.

Well even if it were twice the duration it would still be a singular winter, just a bit longer. But hey, here in IL we get 'em as interminably long as you guys do up there. It's depressing to know that summer is on the way out. Sigh.

I was really tempted not to say anything at all, but I couldn't help myself.

Both beers will likely have some notes of being sour. That is about the only thing in the world you will be able to compare between these two beers

Now maybe if you were comparing it to Incorrigible Reserve that would be a different story...haha

Crap, you got me. A beer with blackberry and blueberry is definitely a better "something similar (ish anyway)" analog to this than the one that tastes like tart white grapes.

    My bad.

I am looking forward to this release. I have had some sours/lambics with red grapes, including a great one from Cantillon (Carignan) but I don't think I've had one with white grapes. Curious to see how it turns out.

Also white grapes are not (yet) the hot thing, so I don't think the lines will be too crazy. Great Taste will add some volume, I suppose

That and it is a 10% ABV beer. I am expecting something more like Serenata Notturna from Crooked Stave, with some white grape must.

Yeah that beer did not drink like 10% and I dont expect this one too either. Hell even Wild Bitter was 10%. No idea how that was hidden so well either.
