New month, new monthly Grimm thread.

For info directly from their website
    http://grimmales.com/

They are working on their new online shop. Keep checking their website for re-opening.

Grimm beers are usually in high demand (especially the cans). Cans have been limited to low counts per person. Grimm Artisanal Ales supply their beers at low prices (and have NOT raised their prices recently) to the distributor, who supply the retail shops, and therefore are not responsible for the final price you may encounter. They try to support the "Mom and Pop" shops that sell their beer. Hopefully, we should all support these small shops.

The latest fitness craze has been the checking of this thread and Beermenus for their cans/bottles and running around town trying to get them before inventory is sold out. Needed exercise for some of our fellow beer enthusiasts. :grinning: If you miss out, you can usually find their beer on tap.

Post away and yes, Joe and Lauren (the Grimm's) monitor this thread and are great about responding to your questions and comments. Especially, if you tag them @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales. Lauren is wonderful. Joe too, by association. Seriously, great people, great couple, great brewers.

The beautiful Grimm artwork on their labels is designed by Lauren, about 50% from scratch and the rest using Gretta Johnson's (their longtime friend) artwork.

Check out http://grettajohnson.com/ for more about this talented artist.

    Can advice:

Keep cold! Drink Now! Roll can to suspend hop particles.

It's a funny time of the year to be releasing an imperial stout, but GABF submissions are due mid august and we wanted to have the opportunity to attempt a three-peat with this beer!

@Grimm_Artisanal_Ales will there be a variant of Dbl Negative like last year with the maple version?

It's a perfect time to release a stout so it will be ready to drink when it's cool! CCB knows this and that's why Zhukov is a summer release.

We're releasing a bourbon barrel aged stout this year but instead of using the Double Negative base beer we're using a fuller bodied base beer specifically designed to complement the bourbon barrel character. It will be released under the name Sumi Ink and we're still deciding whether or not to include vanilla beans.

Have y'all ever considered using port, brandy (or apple brandy), mezcal or other barrels? I'd love to see some Sumi Ink variants in said barrels. I like the idea of brewing a beer especially for barrels, by the way.

We definitely want to get into more varieties of barrels! We've done brandy barrel beers in the past. For the barrel aged version we wanted to create a base beer that would be denser and more chocolatey, with a roast level that's toned down compared to DN. Double Negative has a pretty intense roast, almost smokey.
