I still have a bottle of the BW if you're really interested in seeing how bad it is

    spoiler: it's horrible

I've still got a bottle of BW that's going to Bend next time I'm there. Head brewer at Crux really wants to see how bad it is for actual real science. He was legit excited when I said he could have it.

I appreciate the offer, but my cousin actually sent me one about a month or so ago. He just threw it in as a little added 'bonus' with the rest of the care package he was sending me. He knew that I was curious and he was looking for a way to unload the rest of his stash.

Still haven't opened it. I'm trying to wait and see just how bad it can get.

Great thread. Thanks for the info all in one spot. Especially the comments on the airport.

I will be in Portland on Aug 14-15 (Sun/Mon). Besides the last day of Bite of Oregon, are there any events happening that I should try to visit?

I know, Monday typically sucks for beer adventures as many small breweries are closed and who has a drinking event on the first day of the work week. But understanding my limitations any guidance would be appreciated.

As far as spots to visit, Hair of the Dog is first on my list and then I will be flexible from there as my buddy is not as much of a beer advocate as I am.

We often say that every day is a beerfest in the Northwest, so, while there might not be an actual "event" on during the time you're here, there will be enough interesting brews around to make it seem that way. Enjoy your visit!

Don't know of anything going on those two days... But, I do know that Hair of the Dog is closed on Mondays.

Thanks. Yes, never assume any brewery/tap room is open on a Monday. I've made that mistake before during my travels. Fortunately, I will land early (noon) on Sunday so I hope to hit HOTD then.

Couldn't find any info elsewhere but is de Garde beers distributed in Portland often?

De Garde isn't distributed with any regularity on Portland. The closest thing to a sure bet is Arch Bridge Taphouse.

Caveat: this is only speculation, BUT...

Many of their recent taproom releases (Pâle, Citra Pâle, new batches of Petit Desay, Petit Citra, & Saison Premiere) don't have bottle limits, meaning they probably produced A LOT of those beers. Which leads me to believe that some may see distro. Again, this is all just speculation on my part, so hopefully someone with some actual knowledge can confirm/deny this.

Just saying "bump" is boring, so here's some info on the Nano Beer Fest this weekend. It's your chance to try all those little guys you may or may not have heard of, like Ridgewalker, Wolf Tree, Vagabond, Shattered Oak, Cooper Mountain, Red Ox, and a bunch more.

I thought this was back in April? I may be missing something, as so often happens.

Damnit, you're right. Someone posted it to my work event calendar for this weekend and I copy/pasted the blurb and link without actually checking the site. :flushed:

Oh, well, at least the thread is no longer in danger of falling off the page...

    Indeed ... mission accomplished!

It was a pretty neat event, in case anyone was curious. I went early and didn't stay too long, but it was fun getting to taste some brews from some of these very small breweries that I had never heard of.
