You seem to be of the belief that Term Oil was just supposed to be Assassin, but the barrel(s) leaked, so they released it early too, right?

I would like to know what it is, yes. I don't have a TG Twitter decoder ring, so I don't know what type of beer it is. Based on what is in barrels (beer to become Assassin and KBBS), I would assume that a barrel that was giving them trouble was most likely that same base beer but they kegged it now since "it was giving them problems"

It's was always destined to be a different beer than Assassin. I'm sure they didn't have a name for it when they brewed or were barreling it, but as a whole, it was always going to be a new beer.

Also, Term Oil is not leaky Assassin barrels. It's not even the same base beer.

That is great information, thanks. So what is Term Oil then? How is it different from Assassin?

I do not know exactly what Term Oil is unfortunately. Just that it's a different beer. I've heard is tasty though!

I would be surprised as well. Shocked that it is a different base stout...

Or is Term-Oil "not Assassin" like SR-71 was "not Assassin". Different beer due to blending and aging dates...

I think Term Oil is not Assassin the same way PseudoSue is not Assassin. They're two different beers.

Term Oil is "not Assassin" like SR-71 was "not Assassin" because neither beer was ever destined to be Assassin.

How are Assassin and Term Oil different? Different base beer? Different barrels? Adjuncts? Please explain.

So they planned all along to make this "brand new" stout called Turmoil...um...er...Term Oil. That was it's destiny!!!!

For the love of God, you're insufferable. Just off of the top of my head, Clark tweeted, for the most part, it's not blended. Even if this were the same base, that alone is enough to make it not be Assassin.

I'm more inclined to believe that Mike brews/barrels a beer without naming it. I'd be willing to bet a great number of brewers do this as well.

Then the marketing team or in this case the owner names it, and then realizes a beer was already called that, and then changes the name slightly.

This beer has been planned for a while, without a clear idea of what they were going to do with it. Blend it with another beer, blend the barrels, or straight.

Yeah I'm not sure why people think that every stout that is made has something to do with kbbs assassin or MD. He does make different brews so it's not unrealistic to think this brew is something completely different.

So basically the same beer as Assassin minus blending, gotcha. Thanks!
