Why did Alesmith stop bottle dating the 6 packs? Or did they move it? Every six pack I've seen the last few months I can't find the date on the bottle. Used to be easily ledgible on the front.

Noticed that too and haven't picked one up since.

Had a glass of Double IPA yesterday. Is this the same recipe as the seasonal Yulesmith but the summer version?

How is Rigoberto's compared to Lolita's? Headed down for a pickup today and Lolita's is tradition but if a SD local says otherwise happy to try.

I personally find lolita's all "americanized" if that is even a word. But I also prefer the divey shady looking taco shops and they seem to almost always have more flavorful food.

I would recommend Rigoberto's over anything else in the area when going to alesmith since their meat is cooked well, nice grease, and they serve breakfast all day.

Hit me up if you end up being unimpressed with Rigoberto's @Justinsosmart and I will cruise by alesmith and buy you a "sorry, my bad" pint.

Great recommendation. Definitely seemed more authentic. Had the adobada taco and the rolled tacos with guac and it was on point. Will def take the crew next time we cruise down there. Thanks for the insight!

You could have just lied and said it was bad if you were still there. I am only 5 minutes away and would have easily bought a pint or half-pint if inside the anvil&stave room. Hehehe

    But glad you liked it.

I keep hearing ppl talk up their pollo asada fries but never felt hungry enough to tackle that beast. Might have to fix that or have the bar staff help me out.

Now the Burrito Wars are on. Having grown up in Chula Vista/Bonita Lolitas was/is the BEST. I am assuming you never went to to the telegraph location like 25 years ago. That place was about as divey as possible, hell the center couldn't even get a name brand gas station and has "Thrifty" gas. Even the Bonita Road location was somewhat divey until they moved to a different unit within the center. Now their locations are a lot less divey because they have money to make them look more attractive. Their locations used to be as basic as every other "Berto" burrito place but they have decided to make it seem less like a dump, which to me is a good thing.
Don't get me wrong, the "Berto" brothers are still making fantastic mexican food, but Lolitas is a step above.

Can't say I visited them back then nor would go to CV to try them, but that is because if I end up in CV I likely am on my way to tacos el gordo.

It always seems to me that when a burrito place upgrades its image the food takes a hit. Perhaps it was an off-day the few times I went but I was just not impressed. But that is why, just like with breweries, we have that many options available to us.

Well I already posted the eventbrite link above, but here is the official release announcement

The sun will soon set on the sunny season but we're cramming a whopping four beer releases in before summer comes to a close, starting with a beer perfectly suited for the classic Cali weather- AleSmith Pilsner. That straw-hued take on a Bohemian Pils will make its debut August 8 along with our annual cult-fave, Evil Dead Red Ale. Just like a great horror movie, this year's EDR has a twist-local bottles will be decorated with artwork from Jared Jackson, the winner of our first-ever Evil Dead Red Ale Art Contest, making for cool collector's items.
And on the very special release front we have two beers going on-sale via Eventbrite on August 8: Barrel-Aged Old Numbskull (an oak- and bourbon-tinged version of our award-winning American barleywine) and one of our all-time greatest hits...wait for it... Vietnamese Coffee Speedway Stout. Both beers will be available for pick-up in our tasting room beginning at an official release event, 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 13.

Growing up down south Lolita's used to taste great but that changed about ten years ago as bad as it sounds it taste to clean if that makes sense, any sketchy looking taco shop down south kills them I'll take Humbertos,Mi tierra,Gilberto's over lolita's all day

Just so happens I will be out there from NY for the Stone party, would love to get Vietnamese Speedway. I think I tried last year and got shut out. Is this sale going to be a cluster eff of people trying to get this?

Eh...no BA Speedway variants so probably won't be TOO crazy. Vietnamese Speedway is popular so I would be ready when it goes on sale, but I doubt it will sell out in < 1 minute.

You can always swing by Alesmith while on your adventure out here and drink the draft choices as well as check out the gift shop. Last time I was in there, still Hammerhead speedway togo as well as ba olde ale and port wee heavy.
