There is plenty to do around Boston on a Friday afternoon prior to the concert given your timeframe. You could easily hit Trillium for cans/bottles, get lunch at Row 34, head over to Night Shift (and Idle Hands if Belgians are your thing), and then move to Cambridge Brewing which is down the street from both Lord Hobo (the bar) and Meadhall.

Plenty of options around Fenway to pre-game as well - Lower Depths, Cornwalls, Yard House, Boston Beer Works (much improved from what I keep reading), Eastern Standard.

Another one chiming in with the suggestion of skipping TH on Friday. When I go on Fridays it takes me approximately an hour from Worcester (occasionally longer). The pike (90) between 84 and Boston is extremely congested both directions. You may get to TH around 3:30 but you wont make it back to Boston by 7. A good substitute would be Nightshift in Everett. You can get your fill of delicious beers at Trill and NS and get to the concert with plenty of time.

Agree with all of the above. Not trying to be insulting, but this is one of the silliest itineraries I have ever read on this forum and the trip to Tree House is very, very ill-advised. You'll cut out money, stress, time and traffic. It's a Friday on the pike in summer in both directions; your odds of hitting an extra 60-90 minutes of traffic are worse than 1:1. Just relax, put up an IP trade request, and enjoy the city for a day. Also, 3:30 PM is no longer "quite early" at Tree House.

    Regardless, enjoy the trip.

Yea we've got some back up plans in the works as we speak. Certainly there are some pretty dang cool bars in and around Boston that we can hit up. Which we're totally cool with, because after all we'll have made it to Trillium and had our fills of that goodness for sure!

This is what I have dramatically underestimated. I really appreciate the fact that you personally have been out, and have detailed the time it would take to get back from TreeHouse.

Again, I really appreciate the insight from everyone that has taken the time out to read, comment, and help. I love this community and honestly this is what it's all about.

Time to post an IP ISO for some treehouse, lol

It's cool, you know more than I do, that's why I asked and gave the "silliest" details. Def gonna throw up an IP trade request, I've got a couple options, and like I said, I appreciate the insight.

Definitely agree with everyone saying to skip Treehouse.

Tree House and Trillium are similar enough in the broad scheme of things that you really only need to hit one if you're in any kind of a time crunch. Yes the beers taste different and you might prefer one to the other, but they are both A+ examples of the "NE IPA" and you shouldn't spend a moment regretting that you can only get one of them.

Be psyched to fill your car with as much Trillium as you can afford and then get to the Fenway area early and have a relaxed blast. People have already given great beer recs but If you're a cocktail guy, definitely go to the Hawthorne while you're there.

    Have a blast!

Any bars close to Fenway that offer trillium? Like within walking distance?

Coda and The Salty Pig, literally around the corner from each other in Back Bay, are the closest walking options to the park. Publick House in Brookline is a short T or Uber ride and has one of the best tap lists in Boston, in my opinion.

Sounds like you have plenty on your plate, but if you are staying in Waltham, you won't be far from Branch Line in Watertown, one of the best beer bars in the area. Beautiful space, great food, killer beer list. They often have a Trillium tap or two on.

I'm not normally one to tell people to drop stuff from their itineraries, but you were planning on Ubering in from the hotel right? In that case, definitely drop Tree House, you're going to miss like the whole show.

I would stop at Trillium, drive to the hotel, crush a few beers there then Uber to one of the several bar options listed above. You could add a lunch stop but then you're Ubering in around rush hour which would be suboptimal.

Remember you are staying in Waltham...which is in no way Boston. It's not far mileage wise but can take an eternity depending on the traffic and not knowing backroads(through Watertown to Sturrow/etc) Just give yourself plenty of time to get to the show.

Thought I would throw it out there that I'm sure collectively we all get how much you might have been looking forward to TH and we feel bad you can't make it. Hoping someone here can hook you up at the show. But the important part was trying to stress how bad the decision could have been to head out to Monson. It's just not worth it. You'll get there sometime I'm sure. So please don't think we are all weird heartless dicks who enjoy seeing disappointment.

90% of the posters on here are probably jealous you have tickets.

It's been said, but count on 25-45 minutes to get to the Fenway area (not even the park itself, necessarily) depending on traffic and where in Waltham your hotel is located.

Assuming you're not going to TH now, I would recommend taking an Uber from your hotel to Publick House for an early dinner & beers, then just hop on the T Green Line (above ground subway) which will take you to Kenmore Square, a couple blocks from Fenway.

Taking an uber in and having dinner somewhere that is close to a T stop (or Fenway itself) seems like the clutch move. Publick House is a great idea; if you wanted to be within walking distance of Fenway but not actually in one of the bars around there (which I imagine will be quite crowded), Salty Pig, Coda, Five Horses, are all a nice walk away. I live near Salty Pig and we always walk home from Fenway, much easier than fighting the crowds on the T.

Also, just to mention it. I would strongly consider what option you will be strategically targeting for getting back to Waltham. When that show lets out you will experience a side of Boston and ultra aggressive drunkin bar fightish of a mess trying to either hail a cab or somehow secure an ultra skyrocketed rate Uber. Later nights in Boston any weekend night are a nightmare when places let out.

OR hit up a beer bar and lets the masses fight it out for a while then head home depending what time the show ends.
