I would like to be able to search reviews of a particular beer based on it's presentation. Canned and bottled presentations of the same beer can have significant differences. More significant than that is the draft version.
Having the ability to compare reviews of the same presentation would be more helpful in deciding whether to buy a particular beer. Now I have to read through the reviews to determine if it is a review of a bottle or draft. I love reading the reviews, don't get me wrong, but when I get home from the bottle store I don't want to find out that the reviews I just relied on for my purchase of a sixer were mostly based on a draft presentation. I appreciate the differences and try to recognize them in my reviews, and it should be easier to differentiate the reviews.

You likely remember this, but there was a time that there were radio buttons for Serving Type on the page to review the beer. I don't have strong feelings about it one way or the other, but that functionality was removed quite some time ago. I think at that time you could review a beer multiple times (one for each serving type).

I found it most useful scanning through reviews to see if a beer had ever been packaged, or was apparently draft-only. Though that wasn't universally applicable, especially if the beer had just been released.

I am in agreement with you to an extent but doubt that is a feature that will come back.

In the past you could write several reviews for beers based on the format/presentation. I can recall several times where I wrote reviews for draft vs bottle and the difference between the two varied significantly - to the extent that I loved the bottled version and hated the draft!

However, the system was flawed a bit for beers that had relatively no difference. For example: reviewing both draft and growler is kinda silly.

I guess the point im trying to make is that the brewer likely intends for the product to be the same regardless of what format you drink it in. (The only outlier here maybe being nitro or cask delivery.) So, while the differences can be noted, the law of averages probably works to make the differences negligible.

Also... the current review database is a god damn mess with people creating duplicate entries. I cant even imagine the full time job someone would need to keep that nightmare updated sorting through reviews for incorrect format if that option was added back.

I also liked having the ability to mark the format when reviewing beers and it was useful when trying to determine if some beers (from outside of my area, when traveling) would be available to take home with me or draft only.

I kind of liked seeing the distribution of my consumption...

I believe that @Todd commented that it was unlikely to return in a previous thread but all of the old data is still there.

    It's on @Mike's list. It'll eventually return.
