Hey, is it too late to sign up? I live in Silver Spring and I go to school at UMD. I'm not sure if I have anything that rare, but Dark Lord, Buddha Nuvo collab.

Fellow Terp, huh. Shoot bpgpitt10 a BM if you're interested in coming.

Also, what are people planning on bringing? We should probably figure that out so there aren't multiples (or at least as few as possible).

I PM'd bpgpitt10 already but here's what I'll bring. Not seeing any dupes so far though.

    The Bruery Tart of Darkness
    Jester King Boxer's Revenge
Both Maui and JP versions of Sobrehumano Palenaole

Likely gonna add more if it's looking like a big turnout. Just didn't wanna go overboard and have way too much beer for a few people.

There is a group I often do bottle shares with, around the DC area. We just did a sour-only one on Saturday.
Making it through 24 sours back to back was tough, but a good kinda tough.

That said, I'm off drinking until the end of October. Trying to drop a couple pounds before I get hitched.

Hey all, Sorry I won't be able to make it on Thursday night as I have to work. But there is something I wanted to run by you all. I'm a bartender at Smoke and Barrel in Adams Morgan. Basically any Sunday or Monday, I could close off part of the basement bar to anyone who wanted to do a big bottle share. The basement bar level can easily hold 30-40 people, if it swelled to that size. All glassware and clean up would be provided and there would be no rental fee to anyone who wanted to show up. We could put football on and crack a ton of bottles, possibly even some stuff we have stashed at Smoke and Barrel. The food menu would be available if people started to get hungry and wanted some BBQ. Is this something DC BAs would be interested in? Let me know and I'm happy to facilitate.

A bunch of other friends in Houston do something similar, like once every couple Sundays at a bar called the Gingerman. This sounds like a very awesome idea and I'd be up for it as well. Hell, even starting this Sunday if you'd like - I have many bottles I'm trying to clear out asap and I don't have a TV for watching NFL. Or I'd just bring a bottle and come hang out/watch football

As gratitude and to make it fair for the business, IMO you should set a rule to bring beers that the bar doesn't have, and be sure to tip or buy something from the bar.

The Whole Foods at 14th and P has a good selection. Connecticut Ave Liquors in Dupont stocks great stuff. D'vines at the Columbia Heights metro also has a good selection.

That's a great idea. Definitely need to hash out the exact details. I'm not working Sunday this week. But I'll be working Tuesday - Saturday night if you'd like to swing in and crack a bottle (this is only ever a problem if we're super packed.) The GM at Smoke and Barrel is a huge beer nerd/advocate and is always cool with cracking a bottle or two. Just give me a heads up so I can make sure I bring something.

Smoke and barrel is already my favorite bar, this would just consolidate the holding of the title!

Hey all - just jumping in as another DC area BA. I can't make the event on the 20th, but look forward to sharing some beers with you all at some point. Love the idea of convening at Smoke and Barrel in the near future, fantastic place, and only a few blocks from me. My tiny basement apartment limits my cellaring abilities, but I'm sure I could come up w/ a few quality things to share (Terra Incognita, for one).

Also - for anyone looking, Connecticut Ave Liquor has 3 cases of Wookey Jack - first time I'd come across it in this area.

Alright everybody. Seems like there is a pretty strong response in favor of doing this. Let me get some details together and get back to everybody regarding dates, times, etc.

I went to Smoke and Barrel for the first time a couple of Saturdays ago and really enjoyed it. I'd definitely be interested in attending a bottle share, since I've never been to one before.

Tasting tonight at 7pm in Courthouse.

All are still absolutely welcome to join. Please just BM me and I'll give you the details. If you are on the fence, the tasting lineup includes things such as King Henry, MoaS 2010, BBPt5, 07 BCBS, Event Horizon, a couple Cantillons, some rare Avery sours, and lots of other good stuff. Basically, you should come if you can make it!

Okay all. I'm going to throw out Sunday, October 14 as the preliminary date for our first bottle share at Smoke and Barrel. Please respond as to whether this works for you or not. Once a date is decided on, more details will follow.
