Had a few pints of St. Austell Trelawney in the king's head in Oxford today. Nice pub and a lovely beer, galaxy hops, so very juicy and fruity. Great pork pies too.

IPA day apparently. Seems fitting to crack open my Northern Monk Mango Lassi Heathen. Pure tropical juice, I love it. Got a Three's Company lined up next, and a Weird Beard Safe Word chokeberry IPA.

In a way not performing music at Heaton Hops
meant it didn't get in the way of a good old fashioned beer session.
I got there early so I could do my carry out selection undisturbed.
Picked out Omni Noa Mudshake, Buxton BA Living End, Thirst Class American Brown and Beer Nouveau Peterloo Porter.
I still had a bit of time before my friends turned up so tucked in cask Bollington Best
it smelt like Boddies when it was good but was far fruitier.
I then got a pint of Conwy California
which on cask came across as a nice bitter just underwhelming after my first beer.
Rob showed up so I got him a pint of the Bollington.
He was going on about Kiwi brewers but when they had nothing in the fridge of that ilk he came back with cans of Beaver Gamma Ray.
Then I grabbed us Bronx/Roosters Ida Rivera's Multicultural IPA, which was like a salted caramel coconut dessert in a glass and much bigger than the 6.5% abv.
Passing the bar for the loo I grabbed us
Weird Beard Tsujigiri which I didn't try and pronounce very like a good chardonnay actually.
Rob told me off for buying out of sequence and punished me with a half of Siren's Caribbean Chocolate Cake
I bid my goodbyes and from the safety of my armchair tucked into the noa
    which was very tasty.
Not being a big fan of nuts I'd never tried any of the Omni big stouts
    glad I did
& then I woke up now & wrote this lol

Trying cans of Sierra Nevada Nooner and Firestone Walker Pivo pils back to back - the Pivo wins fairly easily for my taste. Was a bit disappointed with the Nooner, shame considering how cheap it is in M&S

Shame, I would of thought a major "up market" UK supermarket and large US beer producer (470 odd beers on the other site) might of been able to put something a little better together. I know they have Torpedo but what about their porter or stout ?

I'm pretty sure I wasn't too impressed with either of those either whenever I have had them but they tend to be highly rated by most, might have to go back and try them again. I like torpedo and of course their pale ale a lot.

I think Nooner is a fine beer and at 92p when the offer's on (£1.22 otherwise), astonishing value for a high quality imported (by Fullers) beer. I prefer it to the heavy-handed Fourpure pils (also a good beer), which I always struggle with, though I did buy a can yesterday to have yet another go at. I'm also irritated by Fourpure's American style 'Inspired by Munich Germany' (and shouldn't there be a comma there?).

Tried North Brewing Co/BrewDog collab called Sour Bru, an Irn-Bru 'inspired' sour ale at North Brewing's location in Leeds.

Was quite interesting...was highly carb'd, got the right colour, taste was definitely irn bru, but with some slight ginger-ness. If you're in Leeds, both the BrewDog and ShuffleDog will be tapping it at some point this week.

Just trying my homebrewed saison against Tempest Farmhouse ale from aldi. Interesting the similarities due to the same yeast used, although different grain bills, hops and strength

It's weird, I also found the stout disappointing but alot better when my American friend brought me one direct from the states, oddly. It was fuller bodied, less fizzy.

Seconded re the unremarkable SN stout and porter. But then I don't get what people see in any of the beers I've tried by them,Torpedo included. Still to try Bigfoot and Narwhal though

I remember enjoying both the stout and Bigfoot, though a long time ago. I was impressed by the stout's use of hops. The last Bigfoot I had was the 2008 version when it was sold in Oddbins for £1.99 (what would it be now?). I bought loads of them, perhaps more were produced because it was the anniversary edition. I was shocked by its bitterness, but still really liked it. I have one left, I suspect it will still be hoppy. I haven't seen it since.

    Canned yesterday
    Bought today
    Will be drank tonight
Rule of thirds India Pale Ale.
    Half Sound Wave. Half Cannonball.
    Half Gamma Ray
Take Flagship IPAS from Siren, Magic Rock, Beavertown and combine them to create something entirely new, yet distinctively familiar. That's the goal with Rule of Thirds, with each of the deliciously defining features flowing seamlessly from one to the other.
Three breweries, one beer: The Rule of Thirds.
