I've been seeing some bottle share threads going by, and I'd like to host it myself because I've amassed a decent cellar from trading like everybody else. And I have a kid, so it's hard to go to other peoples' places. Here's the plan. Everybody gets two bottles from their cellar that they've been waiting for that perfect time to open, snaps a photo, posts it here, and comes by and we drink em. I'll smoke a pork butt and BBQ some dogs and burgers, we can get a good pot luck going as well if people are down. I'm 0.5 miles from the red line, there's plenty of parking if you want to drive, and have a yard and deck that can accommodate at least a couple dozen people. If a couple dozen people actually show interest I will get a Portopotty. My general location: And here's what I'm going to open: That's Mott B2, and DDG B2. If nobody wants to take part, I'm still going to drink these. Date is SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 2016, NOON O'CLOCK. Cheers!
Just curious how you plan on allocating pours between everybody, Especially with something like the DDG that everyone is going to want to try.
I think he's capping it at 12? everyone get's an oz at least. I'm not local but I know people in Quincy and might be interested, that being said I've never taken the time to learn how to upload pictures to Beer Advocate.
If this works out like many of these have in the past, it will fizzle and die and it will be allocated as either half a bottle per person or he will dome it himself.
I hadn't really though about any sort of allocation rules, I'd say just everybody just pours themselves a small pour of everything and make sure the bottle will finish the line. I've never been to a bottle share where it became a problem. In theory if everybody brings two good bottles then there's going to be more than enough good stuff I wasn't planning on capping a guest limit, but I feel like I've never seen a BA bottle share hit more than a few people. Don't worry about learning how to upload images, I just thought that would be fun. FWIW I use imgur.com as an image host, I don't think you even need an account. Wow dude, you must hang out with different BAs. I've never experienced someone taking a half bottle of something that was intended to be shared. Hopefully that person doesn't show up.
Lol. I was just alluding to how little traction shares have gotten in recent times. Ends up being like 8 ppl interested and 1-2 that will actually go. Ive been to a few posted here. Awesome people, just nothing regular ever came from it. Id love to drop in on this one. Just have to check my work schedule.
You were pretty on - had 4 participants, one of which was my wife. Had an original vs new FV13 which was interesting, totally different beers - one was dark and oaky, the other was golden and tart. Big pours of everything, but no one person hoarded anything.
I can't find the "Born on date" so it's impossible to tell the vintage of the Bud Light Lime. I kind of liked the original FV13 better since it had a little more character, everybody else preferred the new one. I don't think anybody really loved either one. The one on the left was the new one bottled May 5, 2016, the other 11/29/2012 (different date formats are how they're printed on the label).
