If you go to your favorite restaurant and all of a sudden get a bad meal (which they refund your money for), do you stop going there? I just can't seem to understand why I'd abandon a product or place that had been so good to me. Or maybe there have been other issues for you with BCBS in the past and that plays into it?

A great beer, but with a few contacts I can get a few bottles with little effort. Not going to let a one time glitch alter things. Could have bought more, but I've got some vintage sitting too.

I tend to agree with you, but then again I didn't have infected beer and get jerked around over it. Some folks are not getting money back for infected beers because they missed the refund dates, their infected beers did not match dates of known infected batches, they didn't keep their bottles, faced months of denial by GI, and in some cases did not receive their refunds or shirts even after being promised such. I can see why some are adamant that they're done with GI.

Stout and barleywines just as good out there for 1/3 the price and no wait. Although im not opposed to bourbon county if the opportunity is there.

What barrel aged stout is better than bcbs and cost 1/3 the price?

That's why I wondered if there are additional circumstances causing a longtime customer to take such a stance.

I agree that there are instances of people having issues with refunds, but that is a small percentage of the population. I do wonder how well those that are getting jerked around are handling it (i.e. are they calling and e-mailing GI with a respectful / appropriate inquiry...or are they like some of the people that just make jerky responses over FB, Twitter, etc.).

Yeah, there could be some "bandwagonning" going on. Some folks just like to be outraged over things. You would think that politics would cover that for them at the moment. I think we all know someone like that.

I just shared my 1 and only 2015 BCBS with 5 other pals last night and it tasted better than the other 2 times I've had in the past (fresh and one with year age on it). This one was 9 mo. old. No infections to report.

I'll try to get on the waiting list and acquire 1 bottle again next Nov. It's worth the $12 for 1 pint bottle a year to share. Highly enjoyed last nights sampling even if it was only about 3-4 oz. I got.

Besides killing the little critters, how might pasteurization change BCBS? Will the brief heat mute or enhance any flavors or other characteristics? Might it change how it ages - other than avoiding infection?

I'm not chasing it, and this time I mean it. Perhaps I stop and get beer near or on Black Friday, and if there's one I can grab, groovy. If not, more money to buy Cafe Royale instead when it drops.

I havent had BCBS. but that statement is based off of that you don't have to wait in line to get good beer is all.

I agree that waiting in line isn't the greatest thing, but I'd highly recommend giving BCBS a try. Come to Chicago and you can taste plenty of it...happy to share!

I'll get a few cases. Just like last year. The infection did not bother me. Shit happens. They made a mistake and did their best to correct it with refunds. Overall the bourbon county line makes great beer.

    You should try BCBS.

The reality is that the product is on a steady decline since '12. And I'm not blaming Inbev at all. 2012 BCBS was the last great year and has gotten "not as good" as I'm hesitant to say worse each year cause it's still world class. Well until the 15 tart mess.
Let's look at varaints: VR and BY are nowhere as good as 10 Nilla or Bramble. Regal is terrible. Prop 13 was amazing. Prop 14 was great(13 better). Prop 15 just straight up sucked. That is all I have to say.

I know I'm in a vast minority, but '14 is my favorite year for regular BCBS (the sweetest/most chocolatey to my taste), '15 was the runner up. 2013 is the overall winner as Prop '13 is my favorite beer, but '14 was a killer lineup, and '15 gave us Rare, which was great (although too expensive and difficult to find, at least for me). I think there's a decent argument for 2015 being a disappointment (Prop was unbalanced, Rare was very expensive, almost the entire lineup had off-flavor issues, etc.), but I enjoyed everything I had this past year, so yeah, I'll be one of the assholes who is firmly on-board in November.

I genuinely hope 2015 turned some people off of BCBS, because it's one of my favorite beer lineups, and I'd love to be able to acquire it more easily. There's plenty of other great stuff on the market, so if this is pushing people to drink it instead, I think that's a win for me and for all the other guys.
