A couple years ago my buddies wife drank nothing but Smirnoff ice,Apple. We always let her try beers that we drink and for the most part she did not like. All we ask is that she just try a sample.
Noticing she liked tart/sour/fruity flavors,I had her try Lindeman's Framboise and she loved it.We had her try other flavors as well, but she just stuck to the framboise.Constantly.
She is also a coffee fanatic so after trying them, she is starting to like coffee stouts/porters.Again,we have been letting her try them for a while now.

Fast forward to today, and over this weekend she finished "her" Founder's Breakfast Stout before my buddy and I!

This weekend coming up,I have something for her to try that I think she is going to love:Rodenbach.I picked up a bottle knowing this is basically a training wheel sour.In the past she has tried New Glarus Belgian Red and Apple ale and enjoyed them as well.

I guess what I am trying to say is just keep plugging and always try to find something new for your wife, you never know.......Hope this helps a little.
    Good Luck.

    Cheers

How about a bowling ball with your name on it instead?

Or if you think the problem was cheaper adjunct laden beers try something like a Robust Porter or a smooth yet aromatic IPA like Flower Power to introduce her to different flavors of beer. But maybe the anniversary isn't the best time to spring it on her.

I wouldn't try doing this until until you try liking wine.

Once that happens you can try giving her something like Consecration. But I'm not sure about that, for two reasons:
    1. Sours like Consecration have a somewhat vinegary acidic character, which is a turn-off in the wine world (and therefore the suggestions of Rodenbach might be ineffective).
    2. I recommend Consecration because it has such an awesome and bold Cabernet barrel influence. But I'm doubting the effectiveness of simply choosing a beer that showcases its wine element well as a way to get her to like beer.

I would say blended beers like parabola or hebrew jubilation. some have port characteristics

As with so many other things in life, I direct the OP to The Simpsons, specifically Homer buying Marge a bowling ball for her birthday and inadvertently causing her to almost cheat on him with her bowling instructor Jacques (Albert Brooks), to see just how well this will go over.

Essentially. Though I have a couple of apparently good Zinfandels to change her back once I'm done admiring female me, as well as other items for the swift hell of gift giving that is our December.

I did not inherit the familial palette for wine. All I taste is funky grape drank. She, in comparison, does have mild interest in stuff like New Glarus from her home. I intend to expand on and deepen that interest, but I wanted suggestions on the different avenues I could take to get there.

How about something in between like a hopped mead?

Mead seems to appeal to both wine drinkers and beer drinkers.

New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart were a bit sweet for me. If you've tried other fruit beers and she doesn't like them, I doubt she would gravitate towards those either.

Raspberry Tart was the minor victory I gained when I first decided to mold her in my image, but I will definitely try the mead. Appeal to her viking sensibilities.

Tough to Convert. Beer is just one of those things that you have to just drink for a while. In HS I didnt really like beer, it was the effect. The means to an end. Then you start to like it; then you start to crave it; then it becomes a sickness; then you get fired for drinking beer at lunch; Then you waste your entire paycheck on beer; then you go to some meetings and im happy to say im on the 13th step. Back to Beer!
Sit her down with a sixer and say. DRINK IT!!!
    Good luck.

I would not waste Blushing Monk on someone who doesn't like beer.

I can only go by personal experience, my wife despises beer but split a bottle of Blushing Monk I traded for with me and asked me to go get her some more.....as if I could just roll to the store and pick some up.
