That sucks! I know it is a state park and all, but did they give you a chance to leave and keep the beer? I know you had a weekend planned but maybe saving the beer would have been worth losing the campsite.

Yea.. Brothers is a cool spot.. their Resolute day brings some good stuff in (they had a CBS keg last year) -- not sure if tickets are still available for this year's; i just know that i'll be out of town for it this year.

Yea, man! ...tho i nostalgically long for the ol' days pre-blowing up; once they install their new(er) tanks, they'll hopefully have more to go around -- they only release a limited # of total crowlers (ie- total of 250 for a beer) for releases. if you are in that area, grabbin a quick drink (or crowler if available) and then drivin over to Ocelot is not uncommon.

i was offering: if they could spare the valuable stuff; or even if just put it all in my car, and leave and drive/park it in the next town over.... no dice. 'we're taking all of it -- pick up your coolers when you leave'. weak.

Perhaps coming into the Park with the Dukes of Hazzard horn blazing from your truck at 10,000 decibels and firing shotguns into the air while yelling "Hide Yo Wives and Chilluns" may NOT have been the best move...

    Lurks back out.......

When my wife and I went to the Phish festival at Watkins Glen back in the summer of 2010, we pulled a camper and I had about 24 cans of random nice beer (back then it was Dale's Pale Ale and a couple other randoms) and I thought I hid about 6-7 bombers insanely well but the people searching campers were intense. The cans were fine but they found all but 2 bombers and destroyed them. The 2 under my driver's seat were the only ones to live to tell about it.

all (5) coolers, and a friend's car -- my friend was gona lose it if they dug any more than they did ... they didn't go into everything little thing in the car, but through some of the food boxes/grocery bags, in/around seats, under jackets/blankets

Gasp...I might have misunderstood the meaning of the 4th Amendment, especially the "unreasonable search" part - didn't think that could be done at a state park. My past park run-ins involved only being told to turn the noise level lower.

yea, it sucked. but.. the goal was to not let that ruin the wknd. it ended up bein a fun weekend with great friends, regardless ... and hey, "it's just beer", right; and there'll be much more great beer to be found/cellared/drank for many times ahead. cheers, all! /end-rant.

Hell, it would've been better if they just chugged a beer or two so it didn't go to waste...i'd feel better about that than watch the "nectar of the God's" spill on the ground and get wasted.

I did a poor job of looking at the "Do Not Bring" list. I had been to 2 Phish festivals before, in Maine and CA without any issues. Camped at both, brought tons of craft beer to both in bottles with zero issues. But Watkins Glen has a strict no glass policy and they were intense. I felt like it was total bullshit but whatever.

I found @ECOBOOSTINST lurking over in the madness that is SWTFYW and thought he might be a good fit over here. New to the site, new to trading and new to BIF so .... sounds like a Newbie to me. Feel free to lurk here and ask questions - we might even be nice.

Oh no! Sorry to hear. What type of stuff did you lose from the "good beer" stash?

Man, @beatjunkee's story makes me feel thankful that I didn't have issues this past weekend. I camped at a State Park in Wisconsin with my GF, my sister and her BF. I brought about a case of "good beer" and another 12 or so craft cans and my sister's BF did the same. We drank some awesome beers, I would have cried if they would have taken them. I guess that is good warning to really pay attention to the rules and hid stuff really really well if you are breaking the rules.

We have a local state park that is nice to camp at, no alcohol allowed but they're very lax about it. If you're causing problems then it will go bye-bye. That's how it should be. It's the people drinking 19 Busch Lights that tend to cause issues.

Sour written down. Little bit of gush, loud fizz upon opening. Has that barnyard funk nose. I smell fruit, citrus. Reminds me of the West Ashley/Fou vein so I'm going with the apricot variety or similar. Taste is definitely saison. Mild tart, not too sour. Get some nice fruit. Definitely apricot taste
On saisons, typically if I let them sit, they get a little fizzy like that and have a specific taste to me. I'm not good at explaining it. It's not an old taste but more of a metallic/chemical taste. Not off putting, just characteristic.
I'm getting that here so I'm guessing this bottle is over 6 months old

I have had a few HF saisons and this tastes nothing like them

Not sure what NE breweries make sours. I've had an oyster saison from Night Shift. I think trillium makes some but they're 22oz.

    Doesn't taste foreign
I'll say it's an apricot saison with some age. Guess Night Shift due to bottle size?
