^Agree. Jeppe is world class. Was severely surprised.
    It's very wine-like. Awesome.

I'm going to join the crowd and do some gushing here; this was a really great beer and definitely right up there with the best I've had from JK. I only wish I had more than one bottle...

I picked up another one this past Friday and got another 8oz pour. I was surprised there was any still left, especially at $22 for a 750ml, but it's a bargain compared to the fruited sours!

I'm not sure I would call it a 'bargain' at $22 when most de Garde bottles are $9-12, but then again I bought it and would have bought more so maybe its priced just right :sunglasses:

I still thought it would be gone by the 2nd weekend with only 1000 total bottles. I wonder if it lasted through this past weekend? I would definitely go back for a 3rd bottle. It's that good.

@GreatStoutman I was sort of kidding with the bargain statement, just meant next to the 500ml's for $20.

There were less than 150 when I was there around 2 on saturday....i'm guessing they got so close to selling out (if they didn't) and that they will pull the tiny last allotment of bottles...esp with the probability of a fruited something coming out this weekend.

Has anyone had it out of the bottle yet? Wondering if I got a bad one.

I had the bottle, posted above. My friend had both and preferred the bottle.

The aroma out of the bottle was really really bad..... The taste was actually pretty good but having heard others talk about how good the draught was I'm curious too

I think I recalled seeing an Untappd or BA review mentioning a garbage smell, and was surprised. I thought it smelled and tasted great on tap. Now Im guessing they were reviewing a bottle pour.

@ATA1K that was actually in JK's official write up on the beer. Except they were referring to it smelling that way earlier in the process of the beer developing, since they let it bottle condition so long before releasing it.

I'm going to crack one of mine this weekend. Now I'm curious and worried lol But again this is the nature of mixed culture fermentation and bottle conditioning.

The garbage smell was there on draught too (have not had the bottle yet for comparison). I think the perception of the garbage smell varies a lot from person to person (my wife did not notice it). I think it is a good beer in spite of that part of the aroma.

I've had it twice on draught (not from the bottle yet) and didn't notice the garbage smell either time. What I did notice the first weekend it was released was a super strong bubblegum smell, but only when my nose was an inch or two from the rim of the glass, not directly in/over the glass. My buddy noticed it, too, and couldn't believe how strong it was. Fortunately, we couldn't pick that up in the taste at all. I had it again on draught last weekend and had trouble finding the bubblegum smell--maybe just the faintest hint of it, but it was way more papaya coming through. (I'm curious if that's the smell reminding people of garbage; papaya does smell funky, though not offensive to me.) It's weird how the bubblegum smell could fall off that much in just a week--I assume it was a difference in kegs. FWIW, I thought the taste was great both times and am looking forward to trying it from the bottle.

@smb Yeah, I saw that in the write-up, and figured JK was referencing a point in time long ago. Then saw it mentioned again in a personal review. I figured someone else had let the write-up influence their review, but maybe it is there for some people.

I think papaya smells fantastic, and even think durian smells good until you get close to it, and then its awful. I thought Jeppe smelled great on draft (second weekend).

Too late to edit, but - all said above, Im still looking for a couple of more (post in ISO). I think its a really interesting brew either way. Kinda opposite of the recent, more subtle collabs. (really digging Cloudfeeder though, after initially not impressed)

I read Jester King's blog post before drinking so I was expecting garbage smell and got garbage smell, more on draft than bottle. My wife didn't know about the garbage smell, and she thought it smelled like amazing grape/papaya nectar. I love it when brewers (and coffee roasters and oyster restaurants, etc.) tell me what to expect because it really helps out my so-so palate. Regardless, that beer is damn good and I love that it flew under the radar.

Honestly I think it's psychological at that point, all these people saying "garbage" after reading that. I didn't get any garbage smell on draft and thought overall it didn't even have that much aroma, just the slightly standard fruity funk of JK beers.

I agree with this completely. Plus, I don't know about ya'll, but my garbage smells different every time I take the lid off of the can... maybe they can be more specific, like the 'garbage can three days after making curry and throwing out over-ripe bananas'

I only had draft, but it smelled very subtle of some funk and citrus. But then again, I don't have a great nose so I probably shouldn't discount anyone's opinion.
