Man would that be nice. Add to this some decent restaurants that aren't fast food or national chains

A new brewery is being built in Hamel which is on the western edge of Plymouth.

It’s an easy 10 minute drive (or less if you hit all the stop lights) from 494 on Hwy 55.

I have been tracking their progress for some time. It's nice to see how far they've come.

Does anyone know if they fill growlers or any other way of taking their beer to go?
Hope to stop by this weekend and take some home.

When I was there last Thursday I overheard Mat say that right now they will not be filling growlers. However, he did say that there would be a possibility of having fills on Sunday evening if there is a substantial quantity left.

Supposedly, they already have a location. I think it is the old Family & Cosmetic Gentle Dentistry at:

    4787 Shoreline Dr
    Spring Park, MN 55384

I heard they are hoping to be open this year, which sounds unrealistic.

Yeah, from my experience with a BIP in town, it takes years to open... (Roets)
Good luck to them. Don't mess around, open and make sure the beer is good first. I'd rather sit on the floor with good beer than have a fancy brewery with terrible beer.

It's a shame there's as many breweries as there are south of the river and almost none of them are stepping up their game.

Howling Pooch Brewing in Shakopee appears to have gone dark. Their Facebook and website are no more and their Twitter account has gone to private.

I found the former mayor of Shakopee post pictures of designs of the brewery about three months ago, but, as we know, a lot can happen in three months with breweries.

"Indefinitely delayed dream", added to my list of postponed plans.

Most businesses in the planning stage strongly prefer details of their plan be kept very far from the spotlight, practicing circumspection toward those who prefer overt transparency.

I can't blame a BIP for wanting privacy, but that's very difficult nowadays. :slight_frown:

I see BlackStack Brewing got a mention by Major Coleman in his budget address yesterday and he mentioned he toured it.

Can't be too long now before we here this place will kick into high gear.

The other day after I had a few beers at some "older" area taprooms I decided to see if Black Stack brewery was open yet. If everything goes according to plan it should be open before October 31st. Mr. Johnson said, he really wants to do it right and not make mistakes. You only get one first impression.

Of course I had to ask him for a beer and they had one available for sampling. It was a solid drinkable, slightly sweet, hybrid Belgian/French ale. Sadly, It's not going out to the market. In conclusion they have some other cool original ideas coming to the Twin Cities that he has been thinking of since his import/distribution days. I am looking forward to see the other offerings at Mr. Johnson's brewery.

The info is always appreciated but I think by now we all now that you are close to the people at Black Stack. Can we quit the charade that you "happened" to swing by? At least the Shorewood Liquor guy doesn't hide it.

(Steps up on soap box, balances beer in one hand, walkin' cane in the other . . . )

Beer Advocate is similar to other internet forums in that usernames allow for anonymity allowing users to freely identify themselves (or not) as they see fit.

When Beer Advocate began, there was never a method or means implemented to differentiate between users drawn from either the "amateur" drinking public or those who brought the product to the market: professionals employed at "Three Tier" (retail, bar, brewery/importer.)

There's always been (at least some) concern with this, and the system at present allows brewery or bar owners, retail employees (etc) to interact with amateur beer drinkers as they see fit, and to self-identify as being in the industry -- or to not do so, of course.

The particular concern has been that users with inside knowledge might influence ratings. But such instances as e.g. "bar owner rating his own bar" have almost always been as clear as day -- moderators are standing by.

Last year, the owners considered a feature to allow breweries and business owners to communicate directly with consumers, but that hasn't been implemented, yet.

In the meanwhile, we're all just "beer drinkers with opinions", here.

    ---

From my experience, the longer you stick around, the better your chances of knowing who people are and what they do, without having to ask. For example, the user in question is much more likely to be someone working in the beverage industry than a mid-1980s Saturday morning T.V. program -- right? :sunglasses:

Looks like they'll be open "any day now" just like they've been saying for the past 18 months.
