while I'm sure you're correct here, but what I was referring to was more the fact that the dominant flavor doesn't fall off like a hopped up American IPA in my experience. Sorry for the hasty generalization :grinning:

Gotta admit, I haven't looked at them in a while. I stand corrected. Several other good changes on there, too.

I got a sixer of Tivoli Hellas today, and have to say it's probably my favorite local lager now. Damn, it is good. I'm not a fan of the carrier, though. The handle on mine was nearly torn through, and carrying the beer was pretty awkward.

Thank you for the compliment on the beer FarmerTed. We are aware of the issues with the handles, some growing pains on our first packaging run. Won't be a problem going forward.

Picked up a 22 of Bristol's Maibock to take camping the other day- thoroughly impressed, even though I'm sure it was a touch 'old'... Great bready/caramel flavors with nice body and an extremely smooth finish.

All in all- something I will be grabbing whenever I see it!

Bristol's Yellow Kite Pils used to be killer. I'm almost afraid to try it now. The last several Laughing Labs I've had were a complete mess. If you can't trust a flagship, it's tough to trust anything else.

I literally can't remember the last time I bought any Bristol beer, but boy was I pleased with their maibock...
Their beers are generally forgettable IMO- not this one though :sunglasses:

Hopefully they have their shit straight again. For years they were one of CO's stalwarts and I don't think I had a single bad beer from them prior to maybe 3 years ago. If you look at who has brewed there, I don't know if any other place in the whole region has had more beer rock stars.
I'll be on the lookout for their stuff again. If they're even 2/3 as good as they used to be I'll go back in a heartbeat.

Just had a couple of Howdy's at Post last night and damn that's a tasty lager. Might be my new summertime beer. Really impressed with everything they're doing up there. I could have some dangerous days in Lafayette in the near future.

DBC's Rusty Jenkins (pre-pro American pils) is really damn tasty. They're brewing a new batch today. So fresh and hoppy, loving it with this warm weather.

Love this season. Can't wait for all the different Oktoberfest beers to come out. I know Lefthands is out there already.

Dry Dock's Oktoberfest cans are available now. They're fantastic.
Supposedly some German place is opening in RINO this weekend, too...

Got a sixer Hoss cans today. They don't mention rye on them. I wonder if they changed the recipe, or just decided to de-emphasize it. GD is calling it an Oktoberfest now instead of a Maruzen (not that there's a difference). Tastes great either way.

Interesting. It still has the same old description on their website, but the new branding does steer clear of it. Since Oktoberfest is a better-known style description, it does make sense.
Being the weirdo that I am I'll mention that there IS a difference (Oktoberfest beers are a type of Maerzen), but for the US market they're essentially interchangeable.

Partially related - they're bringing Samurai back and canning it. Since our hot summer days aren't over, I'm happy about that.

Really liked the parking lot lager from westfax. Vienna style I believe.

I just finally got to try Prost's Pils and I really enjoyed it. I visited Prost about 2 years ago and came away a little disappointed, but I've now tried 3 of their beers this year and all have been very good to out and out fantastic (dunkel, pils, and Maibock).

I guess sometimes it does pay to give places a second chance. Either that or it was all the glue I was sniffing two years ago...

They've changed brewers since then. They went through a major down period after Bill Eye left. Things seem to be back up to snuff these days.

I hope so. The last sixer of Pils I got poured like a NE IPA. I haven't gotten good beer from them in a year.
