Place near me finally got the variety pack in, so I picked one up yesterday. The Local's was good, I hope Short's keeps up the experimental varieties. Something about Local's lends itself well to dry hopping.

Sipping a Kolsch 45 right now and loving it. It's been, what, three years since it's last bottle release? So glad it's back. Didn't remember the banana notes, but damn I like them.

No joke, my wife ordered a copper mule mug after seeing on the box where the Mule Beer is best served in copper. It'll be here tomorrow, so I guess I'm gonna crack one of those open then.

Ok, what state is missing from that list? Way to go, Breakthru Beverage. Thanks for meeting the challenge.

pretty bummed about cat grass here in chicago. i guess i will drown my tears with the spruce pils i was able to score from a friend in MI.

on a side note...has anyone seen any fresh cans of huma around chicago? everything i am running across was canned in april. im not a complete freshness snob, but this is getting borderline for me.

Maybe the lack of fresh Huma is a reason for no Cat Grass? Just speculation on my part, but if their flagship beers aren't selling here, then maybe that's why Cat Grass isn't coming here (plus this market might be too big to fill, so they are just filling up their other markets?).

I had a pour of Spruce Pils last week at 7 Monks in Traverse City. That's like drinking a blue spruce - I don't see how people can handle that. It was a struggle to get the one down that I ordered. That is one extreme beer.

I really hope their beers are selling well. it would suck not to get fresh cans ever. maybe they just over supplied initially.

i have had the spruce pils the past couple years and loved it. last year it was only around 7% if i remember right. it sounds like this year is pretty extreme!

Agreed, very intense. Hope it mellows out a bit over the next few months.

Short's mentioned on the FB regarding why not Illinois for the release
So blame falls on the distributor, Breakthru Beverage, and not Short's.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure it doesn't, but the fact that these other distributors were able to make it happen should make Breakthru feel like losers.

Neat article about Psychedelic Cat Grass:
    http://thebrewermagazine.com/?p=3492

The comment Shorts made about Some markets "unable to facilitate" makes me think that the Chicago distro was unwilling to cooperate with their idea. I'm sure they saw another potential Bourbon County clusterf**k and were like "yeah, we're good"

None of the places I go are listed on the list for Cat Grass. Doesn't help that I'm currently car-less.

I think that's a pretty good comparison, and perhaps even why they wanted out. But I've heard many places get their BCBS ahead of time. In fact I even know of at least one place that sold it ahead of time last year.

Yeah I've found a shop selling it early here in Indiana, but mostly because they didn't know what it was and weren't given proper instructions.

I was pretty surprised at how many places near me are getting cat grass. Short's must be doing pretty well in NWI.

It's a great endeavor. Kudos to Short's for taking it on. It's just too bad we have a half-ass distributor in IL.
