Short's Brewing Releases & Updates (2018)

All right, after having a Mule Beer tonight (nice balance of ginger and lime, I may try one with a slice of lime just for kicks) I am going to start lobbying for a vodka gimlet ale. Maybe I could try dropping a shot of Belvedere into Key Lime.

People in Illinois complaining about beer distribution? I have officially heard it all. Isn't the Chicago area pretty much as good as it gets in regards to beer distribution?

 

So, who can spill the beans? Has it left Bellaire yet? Showed up at any grocery stores yet (since liquor stores don't open this early usually)?

 

I am sure Cat Grass will fly off the shelves. I wonder how much stores will be getting, and if it is a small quantity, will there be limits?
Meanwhile, last night I stopped in one of the stores that will be getting Cat Grass, and saw 11+ cases of Freedom of 78, 3+ cases of Spruce, and 5+ cases of Bell's Oracle. What are they going to do with all that 78?

 

The article linked above quoted @ScottatShorts as saying the bottles would start coming off the line at midnight, and the first trucks would leave 15 minutes later. Three or four hour driving time to get to lower Michigan, I assume these places would have it in stock when they open. Whether or not they have it on the shelves is up to the stores I guess. I'm gonna try some of the grocery stores at lunch, the liquor store on the list near me is getting it, but with releases like this they usually have it behind the counter, limit one bottle, and you gotta know several passwords to get get it.

 

Hopefully there won't be limits....I can appreciate trying to spread it out to everyone or as many as possible but if Im at the store and have cash I want a 6er...not a single....A single is in all reality pointless....Sometimes you have to have more then one to really appreciate a beer....

Just seen an update....limit 2 per and its 2.99 a bottle....It's showing up now....

 

This a really cool thing to to Short's. Kudos to you.

I'm a little disappointed that nowhere in NW Wisconsin is getting any, though(**gives distributors evil eye**). That, and my family mules that are coming to visit from Escanaba, MI were left out in the cold as well.

 

It's all over GR and surrounding areas by now. 13.99 most places. I'll have one for lunch and report back. Happy hunting!

 

Great brew, one of the best hoppy beers Short's has ever put out. Super balanced, tons of tropical fruits with a nice bitterness (not too aggressive like some of Short's hoppy beers) on the back end. Definitely grab a sixer if you can. Cheers!

Checked in with my local liquor store for giggles and they played the same card they do with every limited special release from brewers: we don't know anything, maybe it'll be here, call us in the afternoon... Been down that dance before. Time to just cut the games and hit Buschs or Holiday.

 

So just to be clear, this one is bypassing normal distro, so it should show up today even if my area stores' delivery days are usually Tuesday/Friday, right?

Just had one on draft. Very good, crisp, I'll probably drink a six pack within two days easy.

 

Just picked up a sixer in Ann Arbor for $14.99. Lot's of folks buying it before stores are able to put it on the shelf here.

Had some of this at the Summer Beer Fest and really liked it. Big citrus hop taste and not overly bitter.

Same in Oakland County. Holiday Market had it for $12.99/6 pk. Was gone in an hour and change.

 

I had 2 reserved at the regular bottle shop....Then had to stop by my Dads house....Just so happens the liquor store on the corner was one of the shops to get some....They didn't have a limit...could have bought the whole case....Just got a 6er...guy behind me was looking for it too....
