Union Woodshop tapped their keg of Cat Grass yesterday. They are located in Clarkston. Quite an amazing beer and feat to get it out the day it was bottled!

Congrats to Short's and all who made it possible.

That is a lot of it and not intentional. With the distributors warehouse in Cincinnati there was not time in the day to cover the entire state. We clearly pushed the limits a little too far on this one with trucks to the last stop in Wisconsin and Philadelphia not arriving until very late at night. That said I want to make it clear that it was not the distributors fault. Cavalier is our distributor in Ohio and they took a lot on and probably ended up losing money on this project. They really rolled with punches yesterday including the truck being late due to a blown tire.

From Short's end it was certainly no ill will intent and we will take what we learnt on this project and improve going forward. I still am recovering from the packaging run and yesterdays logistical coordination but I can say that I always want to improve and I have a lot of good ideas should we do this again.

If anyone is still looking stadium liquor in Ann Arbor still has a few sixers in the cooler. 120 min on the shelves too if you're into that.

Yeah, not sure why. I did talk to Elmer's two days before the release and they weren't even aware of it, so that could have played a part. Apparently they are getting a case next week now, although it will probably be gone the moment it hits the shelf unless they do singles only.

Looks like shorts watches this page after tons of old bottles hitting on their arrival to Ohio and putting a bad taste in people's mouth literally, cats grass was a good move to bring people back though I'm sure it was nightmare for distributors but I gotta say job well done if I can find anymore in the Dayton area I'll buy more this beer was pretty tasty

Wayne/Oakland BAs (or really anyone who wants to make the drive) :

Short's will have an event at One Under Craft Beer and Eats (35780 5 Mile Rd, Livonia, Michigan 48154) on Thursday, September 8. 12 total taps, including:

    "Tunnel Bear
Tunnel Bear is a barrel aged Sour Brown Ale.

    Chickenbach Brown
Chickenbach Brown is an English Brown Ale brewed with Chickenbach roasted coffee.

    Barrel Aged Slow Jam
Barrel Aged Slow Jam is Short's Slow Jam Stout aged in second use bourbon barrels for over a year.

    Bourbon Magician
Bourbon Magician is a lustrous dark red London ale aged in bourbon barrels.

8 MORE TO COME STAY TUNED"

    https://m.facebook.com/events/1630089233987019

The only one I've had is the Bourbon Magician and it's damn smooth. One Under is a pretty decent place to grab some food, too. It's not too far from my neck of the woods, so if I can get a babysitter, I'll be there later in the evening. Wanna get my hands on some Slow Jam.

This beer was amazing! Found it at a local bar so I drank a few bottles. Got a weird look from my fiance when I asked the waitress if I could keep one of the bottles. Empty bottle that is. :grinning:

My mom copped me a bottle but I can't drink it until Saturday. Is this like buying an iPod in 2016?

I've thought about doing this multiple times. I was in the Short's store a couple weeks back and noticed they had a large collage of all of their past labels. It was a real blast revisiting them all - considering how many beers they rotate through each year with many not making it back the following year - there were many beers I flat out forgot about. It would be kinda cool to be able to do that from time to time with a bottle collection.

You're not alone. I was at a bar and they had Jupiter in bottles. I'd gotten a late start to the planet series and was missing this one. I had my wife slip the bottle into her purse before we left (after drinking the bottle dry, of course) .

I started clipping the panels off the six packs and saving those a couple years ago. Figure I might make a bar top collage for the basement, although I saw someone who created a map of Michigan using them and that looked pretty appealing. For now, they sit on a shelf. I have gotten a few weird looks at bottleshops when they're selling by bottle only and I ask for the empty holder to take home.

You may want to check the context of that - pretty sure he's talking about Hudson, WI in response to the questions about northeast WI distro.

Looks like a couple fan favorites are coming back to the pub, Per the newsletter. Thought I'd share for those that don't subscribe (no specific release dates were provided) :

    http://us1.campaign-archive1.com/?u=69b642743d674791bbcda4491&id=55beaa20b1&e=0fb6eee54b

Batch 5000: "Batch 5000 is a big bodied Triple American India Pale Ale with a sizable palate coating sweetness. Delicious flavors and aromas of pineapple and orange are complemented by an awesome piney hop bitterness that leads into a warming finish."

    Bloody Beer:
"Bloody Beer is a lighter bodied beer with an appealing ruby red glow. Fermented with Roma tomatoes, and spiced with dill, horseradish, peppercorns and celery seed, a prominent aroma of spicy tomato juice emits from the beer. The intense initial tomato flavor is followed by a lingering finish that allows each additional ingredient a chance to resonate on the palate. When slightly warm, this 2009 Great American Beer Festival silver medal winner’s magnitude of flavors can be fully appreciated.Bloody Beer was beer number 8 of 13 from our 2007 Imperial Beer Series and it was the 290th batch of beer ever brewed at Short’s."

Also, Black Cherry Bludgeon, black IPA made with cherries. A black cherry version of Bludgeon Yer Eye.

Thanks to a friend who works at a Plum Market I was able to snag some Batch 5000 last year when they got a second shipment. Totally worth the effort. Big tropical aromas and flavors, and a deceptively smooth feel for a 15%. To quote Dave Chapelle as Sam Jackson: "It'll get ya drunk!"

Bloody Beer is one of those signature Short's ales you gotta have once in your life. I've yet to have it myself, but folks who have had it have clamored for its return.

I thought so, too. Besides Belgian style ales (heh, see my username) I also have a weakness for any cherry ales I can find.

It's funny, after the release of Cat Grass, I was thinking of the IPAs I'd want a re-release of. Besides Sticky, which is coming soon, I was hoping there'd be a Batch 5000 release sometime.

And I'm glad I took @BEERschlitz 's advice before drinking, I split that big boy and still got an insta-buzz.

What I really need is a Crowler delivery service (I really have become obsessed with crowlers since visiting the pub last month, I wish they were everywhere). I'd take one each of those three, plus a couple of Richard when it launches next month. Oh, and an order of Loop de Loop.

Aaaand I've made myself hungry and thirsty.

Any Cat Grass left in the Oakland County area? I'm visiting from NC and am looking for it.

ML on Woodward in Birmingham had some on the shelf last week. Probably want to stay away from Woodward this weekend, though.
