Definitely agree that Trophy is heading in the right direction. Can't wait until they can a batch of Teacher's Pet. They also have a big batch of BA Heavyweight in bottles right now and I heard it was tasting pretty fantastic.

Tried Cloud Surfer last night with the better half. After an initial few sips she says to me... "we've had a similar version of this beer before". I knew exactly what she was thinking. I responded by saying... "think C-22 (Tree House's Curiosity # 22). Wife's response... that's the one.

If Trophy can bump the ABV up to the 6.8-ish range (CS seemed a little thin to me), create just a tad more hop presence (I am thinking Trophy is using Amarillo for this one?) and work on the appearance just a bit... Whoa!... that would be one hell of a beer. Not that it isn't a nice drinking beer in its current state.

How does it compare to Cloud Surfer?

I liked Cloud Surfer more, but that one was good as well.

Actually liking CS more with each can, probably go grab another 4-pack today.

I like it more than Cloud Surfer, but I have not had one of the current cans. As @mcd432 said, Cloud Surfer is just a bit too thin. Way Over Yonder comes in at 7% and has a thicker appearance and mouth feel to me.

2nd Hubris batch may be a teeny bit better than the 1st one, as always seems to be the case. Enjoying!

Greatly appreciate all of the info. I picked up some fresh Pernicious and FoN at WW, as well as some Hop drop n roll at Vintner prior to heading home. Also got a growler fill of Grimm cloudbuster to bring home since I've had nothing by them. Cool place AVL is. Cheers!

Had it at Rock Salt (Park Rd Shopping) - lots of citra-like hop taste but well balanced will light malt backbone. I thought it was well done...

So was Cloud Surfer a one time release or will it be around for a few weeks or longer.

We still have cans at the Maywood location, but I imagine they'll be gone within the next week. This run was done on a mobile canning line, which we'll do a few more times. We have a canning line on order and hope to have it running before the end of the year. Not 100% which beers we'll be canning before then just yet but will certainly post that info on social media!

Agreed. I made my way down to Maywood from Durham for the first time on Sunday, specifically to pick up a couple 4-packs. It leaves very little to be desired ... simply top-notch! I hope the cans last until the weekend so I can sneak down that way for another small haul.

We are finally getting Pernicious out here. Now if we can just start getting the new Highland IPA here, I will be a happy camper. I had it on tap out on Ocracoke and it is very good.

Started seeing fresh Pernicious and Freak in the last week or so in the Triad after issues with fresh product since RHB took over distribution a few months ago. Fresh Pernicious and Freak are devine!
