I'll have to agree with you that the tap version is a bit different than the can version. I think kegging it up had some of the passion fruit flavor drop out.

I know you weren't a fan, but is IdonteverwantoBU reminiscent of TD, because if so then I'm intrigued again

I thought IdonteverwanttoBU was a little more boozy than TD (9.3%). TD's passion fruit was very present and I thought lingered. Much better flavor in the TD, IMO.

Any idea what the wait time is normally? Planning on heading there tomorrow for the ACE release.

The ACE release is next Saturday (8/27). Wait times can be pretty hefty, scroll back for an in depth discussion about it.

If we can't have fun on here, where can we have fun!

The release is the 27th and the wait time can vary widely. Normally ACE brings people out, but they have released it a few times so who knows?

Scored a can of Tropical Depression today. Drinking it now. Definitely agree with the over-arching sentiment in this thread. Not a particularly bad beer, but certainly a lesson on the importance of balance. Lots of passionfruit and not much else going on. One can is enough. Moving right along.

I have the same take. I was intrigued, and bought TD knowing this was completely not my taste profile. I prefer dank and piney IPAs, and not a fan of fruit added to IPAs. TD was really good, but I'd have to be in the mood for it. Drinking in the afternoon at a pool or beach would be good. You can't try TD expecting a traditional IPA. It's like drinking a cocktail with passion fruit, grapefruit juice, a splash of tonic and a splash of vodka.

Had a couple glasses of Mylar Bags last night at the Beer Garden event at North Brooklyn Farms. Another great DIPA from the guys at OH, big melon flavors with a little banana going on. I'd recommend seeking it out and hope they can it one day.

    Hi All,

Been reviewing all of the posts in this thread to get a good idea for what I should expect for the OH release next Saturday 8/27. Going to be in town on vacation from Houston staying in Williamsburg with my sister in law.

Is there any one out there that would be willing to meet up and show me the ropes. Planning on bringing some JK and maybe a few others to share while in line. I have been told if I plan to go early I will more than likely be on my own. PM me if you are up for hanging out for the release and drinking good beer. Cheers!

With all due respect and courtesy, you look up limits ahead of time, figure out how much you want, get there early, and then buy the beer you want. If a beer you want is sold out, deduct appropriately from what you wanted then buy extra cans of a different beer to feel better about it.

Them's the ropes. See you in line Saturday.

Edit: a helpful piece of advice is to bring your own bags!

Here's a helpful tip for everyone - know what's for sale and what you want before getting in line. It's no fun for the people behind you when you ask us to describe every beer we have for sale.

All kidding aside, this is maybe the best bit of advice to out-of-town first timers. It's hot and humid in Brooklyn. Cold cans of beer sweat, and that condensation can turn those branded OH case boxes into slushy wood pulp in minutes. A nylon bag (like an Ikea bag) or large backpack is key in getting your cans back safely.

Yes. Last week I put all my beer in those sturdy reusable lined grocery bags. Nice and strong.

And don't drink in line, many do but it is illegal, respect the neighborhood and the people who are just their to buy beer.
