Well, no abv increase vs regular Scotty, hopefully that doesn't mean there's low barrel presence. Though I guess BB Plead is the same way, they list 11% abv just like the regular, however there's nice barrel flavors present. Time will tell.

Sidebar: this might be my favorite Dark Horse label to date...

What's going on with the BA Toonilla release today? How many bottles per person, cost and how much left?

1 case limit on the BA Toonilla just under $100 out the door, showed up at 11:30 maybe thirty people in line not sure how much if any they have in the other building but there was close to a pallet left when I went through line. Tried one on draft and went back to the store to pick up a couple of the Dark Horse tulip glasses and they had move the skid into the store and had closed the back door so a pretty slow release. The Quadtum Leap IPA had the least amount in the store and may sell out today but I would guess like the last couple of bottle releases that the BA Toonilla and Oktoberfest will last awhile in the store, they still had at least 10 cases of the regular Toonilla.

whole foods on Washtenaw ( ann arbor ) had it two weeks ago. I Actually broke a bottle grabbing my 4 pack from the shelf when i grabbed it. My shoes and pants were covered in barrel aged deliciousness, It was a sad moment. I offered to pay for the bottle but the dude standing there waiting for the mop said that it was on him as long as i bought the 4-pack(already in my cart.)

Moral of the story, it's probably still there, it didn't move very fast, and i've seen it at another shop in ann arbor recently also. It also is not a good cologne.

I see bb Scotty everywhere. I am thinking either they made way too much or priced it too high. (I'm going with both...)

When you can get backwoods for about 14 a pack...

And it's not anywhere near in the same class (or ballpark) as Backwoods.

Or its just not very good. At least not or the price like you mentioned.

I'm a big fan of dark horse and an even bigger fan of regular scotty karate. I was very much lookin for ward to it when it came out but sadly it was one of my biggest let down beers all year. I actually prefer the non BA version to it.

Taste is subjective and that's just my opinion, but I can't help but be anything BUT surprised when I still see it in nearly every bottle shop I visit 4 months later.

In order: BB, Central Waters BBSA, and then a distant BBSC. Sadly. Yet, I'll buy it again.

For me it was crazy bourbon forward and didn't mesh well. I've got some in the cellar waiting for a year and two year tasting to see if it chills the Eff out.

Seems to be a lot of DH bashing on this thread. Backwoods Bastard is one of my favorite beers and one of the most under rated Founders. But has anyone actually done a blind side by side? I just did with a 2015 Back Bastard and was a bit surprised.

Color and head retention just about exactly the same. Still don't know which is which in this photo. Found out afterwards that BA Scotty is on the left, Back Bast right.

Here they are matched with the correct bottles. Backwoods Bastard had a way more bourbon forward aroma, but I chose BA Scotty on flavor in the blind tasting.

Not saying that others wouldn't chose Backwoods Bastard in a blind side by side because they are both great beers and we all have different palates. But I have been doing more blind side by sides and have surprised myself more than once.

Not bashing DH. I AM bashing this particular beer, as i found it one dimensional and unpleasant. Just my opinion.

Overall I like DH quite a bit.

I am a mixed bag on Dark Horse, but I swear I tasted this with an open mind and found it a pretty poor BA Scotch Ale. Just my opinion.
