Where I am in SE WI we had Thresher and Sol Hunter show up randomly with no fanfare or online hype and I only saw them at one store despite other shops here moving tons more TG product. Fine by me as I was happy to scoop up Sol Hunter 2 weeks in a row without racing against swarms of tickers. Seems like you never know what will show up where when it comes to the 'lesser' TG brews. Your mileage may vary.

? If you follow the twitters you'll know what's coming and when for the most part. Cheers

With school starting and fall lurking right around the corner, I hope we see some deeply missed TG brews soon. I feel like they always pop out some goodies in september (hopsmack anyone?!?). I haven't posted in a little while, but the fall weather gets me excited to start drinking some more TG pale and double IPA's.

    Cheers boys!,

What does TG's lottery process typically entail?

A tweet, first people (determined amount not disclosed) to sign email win
For MD it was an tweet and within 10-15 minutes the lottery was closed (so not really a lottery, more like social media right place right time)

Only happened once on a public release before so not enough of a track record to know what is or isn't typical yet

Good to know, thanks for the replies.

I'll be driving through Decorah on the way to the Indiana - Nebraska game, so hoping the MD release gets pushed back a week for an outside chance of getting some.

I'm going to stick to the regular lottery as there are better odds of winning....plus, with a couple hundred million you can probably afford TG on the black market at that point.

Right, they've never really done two releases the same way, so it's kind of silly for people to go off of what the previous release was like, IMO. SR71 was tweeted about, Rue was a mug club lotto, MD was the email signup, Assassin has been silent in the past, they've done KBBS release events announced ahead of time, etc.

None of us have any clue until they give us the deets.

I think people are going off of a tweet clark has where I'm pretty sure he said that they would either be silent or MD style.

Let's just pin this so it can be restated until we know more.

Otherwise, someone can start a TG stout speculation thread. That way it is fully known that people are only throwing out speculation.

He also tweeted that he was considering doing it all on tap.

In typical Clark fashion there was a tweeting spree and idea's thrown out but in the end I learned nothing... and nothing was committed to on his end.

I'm pretty much just assuming I won't get any of the epic TG stouts. The odds of me being attentive enough to be one of the first to reply to a tweet are slim and none. I spend too much time in situations where I simply cannot be on call for something like that.

The only method I feel confident I can at least get a taste is if they do taproom only. Anything else becomes a long shot at best.

The good news is that it's not the end of the world. There are a too many fantastic and obtainable beers out there to get worked up about a few unobtanium stouts. I don't feel the need to have tried every super popular beer or to have one or more in the cellar. I drink with some people like that and I get tired of them having to chime it with "oh yeah, I've had that" or "Yep, I've got two in the cellar" (with an air of superiority) to any beer you bring up. Enjoying beer isn't supposed to be a contest....

It's not usually a good idea to announce the day months in advance for a silent release

I think we can all agree a silent release is not going to happen for MD at this point considering they put out a target date already. That makes it not silent. I would think MD is the same as last year. Seemed to work well. For everyhting else I would think is a total crap shoot.

Hell if I was them i would just sell KBBS for $433984389054328935247 a bottle to go. Or on site consumption only for $20.

They could do $75 to $100 on site or $150 to go and it would sell both ways

Trust me, you'll be fine if you never taste a TG stout.
