This is all pretty much on point.

The brewer at Tooth and Nail did a stint at Cantillon and has definitely spawned some of the best beers in Ottawa as of late.

If you can manage Gastropub, Tooth and Nail, BTP, and Union, you've basically done better drinking than most that visit the city.

BPA was closed, what a tiny brewery though. They had their IPA on tap at Wellingtons which was cool. Nice selection of Ontario beers at Wellingtons, never been a Flying Monkeys fan but the Saison they had on was great.

Stopped by a new LCBO on Carling on the way to our hotel. The staff helped me pick a cool box of beer and you are getting some BC stuff cheaper than I have seen them in BC or Alberta. Bombers of Fat Tug for $6 bucks is just kookie.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Off to the War Museum, some golf and Dieu du Ciel in St Jerome tonight.

Oh yah, forgot to mention BTP is closed on Mondays :grinning:! If you are feeling a little chapped about missing something specific, let me know and I am sure I could get a care package in the mail.

Glad you had a chance to stop by the Gastropub.

The one thing that can be said about the LCBO is that their huge buying power seems to result in having certain non-local beers at better prices than almost anywhere. I'm not sure if that is what is behind Driftwood pricing here, but have been told it is the chief reason for why things like Rochefort and Westmalle tend to be cheaper here than most other places.

Absolutely. The LCBO is a gargantuan contract for any craft brewery. There's rarely (likely never) such large orders being placed by independent stores.

That being said, there was an article out in La Presse (I believe) not too long ago saying that an investigation was made in SAQ pricing and what came out of it is that SAQ, with their buying power, could get the price per unit even lower, but opt not to do so so that their (I'm assuming somewhere around) 50% margin is chunkier, i.e. instead of getting Orval at $1.50 and selling for $3, they'd rather get it at $1.80 and selling it at $3.60, getting an extra 30 cents. I would assume the same is true for the LCBO as some of their price hikes are unjustifiable.

That said, it's still quite low compared to everywhere else.

Thought food was pricey but amazingly the beer was inexpensive. As to BPA you know I am industry so all is cool on the care package and a very big thank you on the offer.

We stopped Brasserie du Temps for lunch on the way out of Ottawa, Love that space and had only seen in it the dead of winter.

A great wiezen on a canal on a hot day, wish we had something like that in Calgary.......

Into Quebec and well taken care of for suggestions and time. Looking forward to seeing both Brou Ha Ha's new spot and the new Pit Carabou......

Nice stops! I really like the BdT location as well, and though I've never had a chance to order off the full menu, the food always looks really nice. You may not have a canal in Calgary, but Banff definitely doesn't suck :grinning:!

Didn't know Pit Caribou had a new location; I am hoping this means they are expanding their barrel program.

Sure I will get all the details, I am staying at their distributors place until Monday.
Checked out a new brewpub Harricana in Montreal today, great beer and even better food.
This weekend is the Quebec Brewers festival 80+ Quebec micros part of the reason for the trip.

    Back to my kidney abuse......
