So got me a six of the WC IPA and find it a solid beer and will rate later, the Sea to Sea Lager is very smooth and i like as a light beer. One point i have to make though is where ever i went the cost per 6 pak was 2 dollars higher than Sierra Nevada. The Ipa was 16.00 for a 6er! 11.99 for the lager yikes!

Another vote for Rayon Vert, sad to see it go but it was sitting on the shelves forever so i understand.

West Coast IPA, and Double Stout are outstanding examples of the style as well.

Green Flash makes some pretty tasty brew's, and then again can make some pretty awesome brews.

    Cheers!

The fresh part or lack there of is probably the reason why I don't like them.

I've always loved Road Warrior. Delicious double rye ipa.

I used to drink the original west coast ipa on the reg years ago. Then green flash upped the price and changed the recipe. I don't even consider buying their stuff today, under the radar nah, in the rear view for me.

Assumedly the Virginia Beach location opening in November should help with freshness in the near future.
I do hope we get some Nelson at the very least at the brewery.

Honestly, their classics WERE great until they ditched most of them (Hop Head Red, Rayon Vert, Palate Wrecker, etc.)! And they're still somewhat hated for the whole Alpine "thing". Their customer service since they moved into their BIG brewery completely tanked too, so having said all of that...I am not much of a fan of theirs anymore. For what it's worth. Cheers!

West Coast IPA is an unsubtle hophammer of a beer; what it lacks in subtlety, it makes up for in effectiveness. If you want a dry, pine-bomb IIPA, this is what you're looking for.

Other than that, the only Green Flash beer I've ever had was one of their Hop Odyssey series. Freshness usually seems to be an issue here in NC.

I love their Hop Head Red, will buy that one anytime. West Coast IPA is pretty good. The Red is my only consistent repeat buy. I think a ton of SD/LA beer nerds were pissed that they "ruined" Alpine when they purchased them. I have zero basis for comparison as I never had original Alpine, but the beers I've had after the acquisition were all damn good...

Not to digress,but... I am surprised at all the hate for Alpine. I never had the original but I am a big fan of Duet. Living in Pittsburgh, our selection is somewhat limited... with some of the most archaic alcohol laws in the universe... so I am just glad we can get it here! Not enough quality choices from the PNW here IMO.
Oh and I like GF Palate Wrecker and WCIPA.

IMO you have answered your own question. I have had the original Duet and I have had the alleged Alpine beer brewed by Green Flash.

If you are happy/satisfied with the Green Flash brewed Alpine beers then you as an individual should continue to buy them.

    Cheers!

I feel like this is a brewery that no one talks about much anymore. However, the Sea to Sea zwickelbier definitely put them back on my radar.

It looks like that Sea to Sea may be worth checking out. I just hope I can find it in good shape.

Just this past weekend I was in the mood for their Stout, but sadly couldn't get my hands on any. I've really enjoyed that one as well as the Imperial IPA, and will search them out from time to time. Palate Wrecker is really nice, too, although it doesn't wreck my palate. I must be too far gone .

Well... still not sure about the hate... is the GF version "watered down?". Sure wish I could have got my hands on the "old" stuff. How are they so different?

Under the radar? No, at one point they were very much sought after......until they raised their prices and forced many of us to go elsewhere. I always loved fresh WCIPA, orgasmic when fresh.

Below is something I posted in a previous thread:

"I have had several draft pints of Duet over a period of several months when this beer was first introduced to my area and every one of those draft pints was disappointing. A very muted hop aroma (sometimes zero hop aroma) and the flavor was just OK at best. I have written off this beer. There is a saying that three strikes you are out. I have given this beer more than 3 chances and every one of those beers were unworthy."

    Cheers!
