question for you guys, is it worth it for an out of towner about 2.5 hours away to become a member?

I can't answer that question for you, but from that kind of distance, the only real benefits you're getting from your membership are the t-shirt, the glassware, and the opportunity to buy a ticket for bottle releases (albeit limited in number and through an online link, since you're likely too far away to buy at the brewery).

The other cool stuff--20 oz pours instead of 16 oz, $1 off all full pours, half-price growlers on Tuesdays, and loyalty points per $ you spend--would be hard to take advantage of from that far away, although you would of course get those benefits every time you visited.

If all that is worth $50, then go for it! I have no idea how many, but there seem to be a lot of out-of-town members, although that may decrease over time with the new bottle release format.

@tommyz can we brig a backpack in with us or no? Wouldn't mind bringing a rain jacket since the weather is looking iffy.

Quite suprised there were no lines this afternoon, assume the rain kept people away? Glad I finally got a chance to try Dragontrax.

Maybe it was the 6 dollar cost for 5 ounces.

I'll post a photo later, but just going to say I doubt many people got a 5oz pour. Really was a 4oz. Which is just ridiculous.

I love witch's hat but I agree with you guys. They aren't friendly on the wallet at all anymore.
Their pours into my mug stink. I don't drink tier 1; maybe you still get good pours and a price relief with those? Two beers and a popcorn with a membership is like 14 bucks now, used to be 8 or 9. Paired with their static taplist I find myself going in less and less.
Between donations, rising beer prices at fury, and the whack pours I think you have reason to be a little disgruntled. I had an awesome time and drank awesome beer for sure, but I had a 100 dollar day today! After a 100 dollar tab I shouldn't be able to type this!

This was because of my curiosity, but for reference

This is what a 5oz pour looks like in the WH plastic cups. To the rim. Almost overflowing. Pretty much not easy to carry without spilling.

And I this is what the majority of the pours I saw yesterday were, and pretty much all of pours I got. (Yes that is sub 4oz)

And just for fun this is a 5oz pour in a glass similar to what they were selling. I know the lip is a bit different. But I wasn't spending $6 on a tiny glass I won't use.

Now this is apple juice. It does not pour with a frothy head that takes up additional room. I highly recommend they get glasses that can actually hold a 5oz POUR and they actually pour to that since that is what you are paying for. It was $5 each last year and was $6 each this year. $6 for a sub 4oz pour is insane. $1.50 an ounce.

I for one will just go to summer beer fest again. Slightly higher admission price. But I drank more witches hat there (same number of pours but larger) plus a laundry list of amazing things. Heck I spent $29 just at witches hat and I know I was a low spender there.

I doubt I will be back to Fury.

I did buy a Fury glass, 4.1 oz. To the top.

Almost all of our pours were to the top. However, we had 3-4 that had head and therefore were less than 5 oz. Perception counts, too, and using 5 oz total capacity cups that need to be filled to the brim don't lead to a high perceived value to me.

I just checked mine with water and got 5 oz to the brim.

My Fury glass filled to the top holds 4.4 oz of liquid. I measured 10 times, using 5 different types of liquid.

I really liked the blueberry pancake. Dragon Trax was great as always.

I retested the glass and came up with the same approx. 4.4 oz. The glass is smaller than the Funvitational glass. I filled a Funvitational glass to the brim and poured it into the Fury glass. It overflowed and there was still liquid in the Funvitational glass.

I did have a great time regardless of the cost. The beers were excellent. DragonTrax, Blueberry Pancake NF, and the Buffalo Trace Stosh's Point were highlights. It was my first time attending, and it sounds like the rain kept the crowd small. I liked that a lot. Great beer, great food, and great friends made for a great day!
