One of the best beers I've ever had was a pint of wet hopped trail head at the production brewery a couple years ago, but I attribute some (or most) of that to smelling the incredible aroma of the batch of hop stalker that they were brewing at the same time. Wish I could have gotten a whiff of that IBUsive last night!

For as little as Platform has wowed me with their beers, I tried their orange blossom gose last night and absolutely loved it. Might be my favorite outside of Westbrook.

Did I miss mention of Great Lakes Blackout Stout With Molé? Is this new? I've not seen this and just saw it popup on untapped via a friend last night. Looks like winking lizard has it on tap. Definitely going out to try this, just didn't know if it has been around before.

Surprised at these opinions of Nine Giant and Darkness. The wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed all the beers we've tried at Nine Giant, especially the Keymaster Gose... easily the best Gose I've had from a local brewery.

As for Darkness, I'll admit that nothing really wowed me, but I thought the beers were ok.

They've done it a few times before as casks, this is the first kegging for distribution I think. It's a one-off, keg only (at least for now). And I would get to the Lizard fast, it's been on for a week and a half and is gone from most places already.

I thought Nine Giant was decent. Nothing wowed me, nothing turned me off. They didn't have the Gose when I was there.

Darkness had a wheat beer when I was there that smelled rancid and tasted like dumpster water. Their dark offerings were very run of the mill, it would be my second to last choice to visit in Cincinnati ahead of Bad Tom and right behind DogBerry.

This may be the first Holiday beer I'm actually excited about!

Perhaps a much better celebration ale?

Cool. Called Mentor, they have a keg and a half left, no growler fills.

We're super stoked on this too. NO SPICES ALLOWED. The intent is to make a beer with layers and depth of rich malt character, appropriate for the holiday season.....but also hit it heavy with Citra for aroma. Lower bitterness, so definitely not in the IPA realm. But rather a way to get the best of both worlds.
BTW, we absolutely worship Celebration Ale, but that is firmly an IPA. We're trying a different approach to showcase malt and hops. I'm really looking forward to this.

Did some research as mentioned and this is good, not great, but a good variation from Great Lakes.

Can't wait! So glad to see CBC really showing their potential and able to package more offerings. Thank you! @tcorder219

Any Cincinnati area BA's going to the Barrel Aged Death Valley Shootout release tomorrow?

Message me if you don't want your full allotment. I'd love a few bottles, but will be out of town.

Went to Avon Brewing Co tonight for dinner. The building is a bit dated and I'm not sure they did much to change it from the old business. However, the beer (which is the most important aspect obviously) was surprisingly pretty good. Definitely exceeded my expectations so I look forward to whatever else they come out with.

Has anyone heard anything about barrel aged Nutsmasher? I thought I remember hearing it would be released on draft sometime this summer. Hopefully I didn't miss it.

Looks like R. Shea in Akron is expanding, already. They are currrenly looking at 30-bbl brewhouse and doing the whole production thing now. Good for them, I suppose. I don't particularly care for their beer at all the two times I have been there, mediocre at best unfortunately.

I agree. After going there and drinking almost everything they had to offer, nothing stood out to me. The beers weren't bad by any means, but there wasn't one that stood out. I will go back again, but In my experience there wasn't 1 beer that I thought I have to get again.
