Yea it's pretty aggravating. 90% of this sh*t show is created by traders -- don't know if that will stop when Grimm get's a brewery. Will just be a different kind of sh*t show.

Might smell different, but sh*t is sh*t.

It will eliminate people missing out due to misinformation from stores like whole foods and stop this 1 can nonsense. Sure it wont stop traders from trying to score cases but as is evident from this thread, thats already going on.

nope. i got 17 cans so far and i only keep 2. the other 15 go to people in nj at cost. that's what i do. i share the grimm goodness with beer buddies in nj. it's good beer karma.

i've been doing this for over a yr now, with grimm bottles and cans. i never posted on BA until recently. most stores limit, so it's not that easy and takes a lot of running around.

Something tells me that admitting to reselling beer to your friends is not gonna sit well with some people, grimm and beeradvocate included.

The point I was trying to make is that places put limits on cans to try spread the love and allow their customers to try highly rated and sought-after beer. Maybe it would be easier to get and require less running around if people werent trying to bring 17 cans out of state to sell to their friends.

Not sure why @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales would care if more people get to try their beer at a cost that is not being artificially inflated any more than the liquor stores charge. In fact, I would think that is something they definitely would want.

everyone does what they want to do. i tag grimmales on IG, so they know what i do...lol. no one cares. get your grimm and move on. i am here to share locations and information, just like the rest of us. not to start arguments and tell people what they should and shouldn't do.

Not trying to start any arguments, just making a point about why stores have limits.

I am curious though as to how he prices his cans to friends as prices per can vary from store to store. Do better friends get the cheaper cans? He had mentioned spending 7 dollars at some places which to me is absurd.

if your curious, then just ask. i'll tell you. whole foods has good prices at $4.99 per can or $18.99 per 4 pack. then you have shitty 7th ave westside market and their $7.99 cans. I usually buy most here because no one really knows they sell it, plus their high prices. I usually keep 2 cans and 1 bottle for myself from whole foods. if i have any extra from whole foods, i sell them at cost to a few buddies i've known since i was 15 yrs old. The higher priced ones go to people i know from the nj craft beer fb groups that i've dealt with for a while. no one ever complains about the price because it saves them a trip into nyc. we're talking $1 - $3 difference in price. not much money in the craft beer world.

there is also carmine st beers, milk & hops, 3rd ave westside market, etc. these store's prices fall in the middle. i sell them at cost to everyone. if you want to get on my grimm list, it's pretty long, but i can add you. i'm just a nice guy who spreads craft beer around. no hoarding, a little bit of trading and that's it.

    Cheers

As someone who lives in NJ, I could appreciate this and respect it. Same happens with Kane/Carton going over into nyc.

disclaimer: I do not know/ever purchased from OrangeBarius

I've given away a lot of beer over the years, but I've never a dime from anyone. Not surprisingly, I've had a lot of beer given to me throughout the years. Strangely, no one asked me for money either. I've had people that were going to breweries or other regions of the country bring me back large quantities and that's the only time I've paid. That's just me, though.

Case in point, I just bought a case of IPAs from The Veil at the beginning of the month, and gave away 9 of them, and that's not including the other Virginia beers I gave away. All, appreciated it, I think.

This sounds the same as someone paying you for the beer you got for them.

I think everyone forgets that these beers get released over a two week period. The first week usually creates a lot of frenzy and knee-jerk reactions. There's usually a second shipment coming the following week and I can assure you everyone will eventually get their lions share
I think everyone forgets that these beers get released over a two week period. The first week usually creates a lot of frenzy and knee-jerk reactions (just like now). There's usually a second shipment coming the following week and I think there's a chance everyone will get their Lion's share.

With that said, Orangebarius, because of the scarcity of these beers, it would serve you best to not disclose the amount of beers you collect. Yes, you may think you're doing a good service (and promoting "beer karma" ) for those who cant readily get it but you're also potentially taking away from those who can (especially with the amount you grab at a given release).

Not saying what is right or wrong, but any resentment you receive is justifiable.
