Some newer places in the Ohio City area as well are Brick & Barrel, Portside & Forest City Brewing...haven't been & I've heard mixed things but thought it was worth mentioning.

In Cleveland, the one well worth going out of your way for is Fat Head's. I would honestly skip every other brewery in Cleveland just to go there (The Taproom, not the North Olmstead location). The best beer and atmosphere, easy.

Great Lakes is cool and all, but the beers can be boring selection wise. But typically well made, so if you are right in that area be sure to stop in.

Market Garden / Nano Brew we went there a few times two years ago and have not been back since. They just fall flat compared to Fat Head's and other places in Cleveland. Plus usually hella-busy in Ohio City which I typically try to avoid.

Platform is probably my second choice in Cleveland. While beers can be hit or miss, it's worth going to. I like the space and usually you will find a great beer on their diverse taplist. It's just outside of Ohio City, so parking is usually not a problem anytime we have gone.

Brew Kettle. Unfortunately, the atmosphere sucks. Think sports bar. Hopefully their new location will fix that. Great beer and the food is awesome as well, but I just hate the whole setup in that place.

Portside I enjoyed the time we went. Beers were fairly solid, nothing extraordinary. I would like to revisit before I really say anything though, it's been a while.

Brick and Barrel we have still yet to stop in... That is on our to-do list soon here, it's just been too hot lately for the lack of A/C in their building (at least, from what I saw in reviews). But it looks like a solid spot.

Butcher and the Brewer has a very cool and unique space, but I didn't like nearly any of the beers except for one or two. Perhaps they have improved since, but it's that whole first impression thing.

    Just my .02 around Cleveland!

We are headed to Cleveland this fri-sun. Staying in tremont. We did a similar trip last year and enjoyed both fat heads, Great Lakes, brew kettle, and platform brewery wise. Tremont tap house, Edison's for pizza!, lizardville in Lakewood were cool for beers.

What are some must hit food spots? Food at Great Lakes and fat heads was very good. Thinking about hitting the west side market and melt this time. Any great under the radar food and or beer spots?

I've heard pretty good things about the Cleveland brewery and goldenhorn. Are these worth my
Time? any other beer bars or new breweries to hit? Best tremont spots ?

Cleveland Brewery is Butcher and the Brewer Downtown. Good food and pretty good beer... depends on what they have at the time.

I do wonder how the beer is now that Eric Anderson left. Food is very good, though.

I don't inow when he left, but I was there In June and the beer I had was pretty good.

I believe the Cleveland Brewery is a stand alone brewery on the east side in Euclid.

You may be right. Butcher and Brewer is something similar. Cleveland Beer Company, maybe.

The Cleveland Brewery is a stand alone brewery on E. 185th in Euclid. It has nothing to do with the Butcher and the Brewer and whatever their official brewery name is.

Not much on the website but here is a little info: http://www.theclevelandbrewery.com/

Heading you Cleveland in a month and plan on checking out Fat Heads. Sounds like everyone recommends the taproom off Sheldon?

Only problem, the Southside Slopes sandwich at the NO location sounds amazing. Is the food at the taproom just as good? Going with my wife and she is more of a foodie than a beer drinker.

If food is of great concern then I would head to the NO location. Both are great though. You could always do lunch at NO and head to Middleberg to do the rest of your drinking, it's not terribly far away. And depending on when you come, you may be able to catch Super Juicy Hop JuJu on tap.

If you don't mind a crowd, the North Olmsted location often has a better, more frequently changing beer board. The food at the Taphouse, aside from the smoked wings, is forgettable. But I'm not a big fan of the food at Fat Head's, in general.

Thanks for the feedback. Got a place or two you recommend for food if not Fat Heads?

Tremont Taphouse and Deagan's both have great food and taplists.

Went to Fat Heads Saturday for a date night. Signed into open table on the way there with a 2 hour wait noted at 7pm. We didn't care we needed to get out. Within the time it took us to check in and order 2 beers 2 seats at the bar opened up. 20 minutes later we had food in front of us.

I highly suggest Fat Heads. Great food. Amazing service, the people are so nice there! Beer is always on point!

As for Brew Kettle. Ever since Panini's took over I have had nothing but issues. The servers are rude (not all of them but if you go there you know which ones) and service is pretty important to me. The food has gone to hell. I took some out of towners there bragging about their wings and was embarrassed. After 3 screwed up to go orders over the course of 2 months I quit ordering there. They would never offer a solution other than if I drove back up they would give me what I was missing or swap out the screwed up order. After explaining the food was picked up on the way home from work in rush hour they had nothing to say. Typically places will take your information down and make it right on the next trip but that seemed like too much too keep a customer who had gone there for years. The last straw was when all of Medina County stopped getting white rajah and my other beer stores would get maybe a case or two at a time while a whole pallet sat at costco rotting for months.

Yeah. So I go to fatheads! Never left feeling disappointed, had a server treat me like a bother rather than a customer and never screwed up my food...although I wish they would cause I imagine it would result in free food!
