Oskar Blues - BA Crowlers

They haven't released any crowlers of BATF in months as far as I'm aware. They typically post on Facebook and/or Instagram with little notice - usually the morning of.

And they're notorious for giving misinformation about how much is initially available and how much is left at any given point. They'll make a social media post saying "super limited numbers" or "only one case remaining" and then it'll be available for hours and for days after. I'm not sure that they're trying to be intentionally misleading, but they clearly don't communicate between bartenders/social media person/etc.

 

Not sure if crowlers will be available yet, but the 2016 Fidy release was announced on fb today: Friday, Sept. 2nd starting at 4pm MT. BA Fidy, 2012 Fidy, and a "special" Java Fidy on tap! Yes, please!

 

Last couple of times they pre-filled a bunch of crowlers to keep the line moving.
Hopefully they'll do it again, even though I probably won't be able to go until the next day, leaving little chance I'll get BA of Java goodness

 

If they do crowlers of that BA Java... I got 99 problems but work ain't one [on Friday, September 2nd].

Yes, they generally begin on time. Also, they sometimes stagger the tappings, so being there at 4 doesn't necessarily mean the BA Ten Fidy will be tapped at that time. I would assume so in this case, but couldn't guarantee.

Is this true for the past Fidy releases? I thought last year all the variants were tapped and ready to go at the beginning of the event. Maybe I'm thinking of the year before...? I've only been to this event the past two years.

 

Any word on if/when cans might come out? I think it was closer to mid-october last year, but I haven't heard anything.

 

If I had to guess about crowlers on Friday, I would lean towards no. It's an event based around the 2016 release of regular Ten Fidy with special tappings. The quantities of BATF and Java will be limited. Free food and a band playing makes me think this is more a party to celebrate Ten Fidy versus something where take home sales takes precedence like the previous Java TF and BATF releases. Just my .02

 

Either way I'll be there. Of course it would be great to bring back a few crowlers to Texas, but getting to drink there and enjoy the release will be fun as well.

FWIW, in 2014 they did fill Crowlers of everything they had on tap - Appleton Rum BA, Maker's Mark, and vintage FIDY. It wasn't advertised that Crowlers were being filled, but they were.

 

It does say four "fuh-cans" but also just says can release of Fidy and tappings of other ones. I'm confused.

 

For what it's worth, I asked a bartender about it. She said that she is pretty sure there will only be a single keg of each of the rarer offerings, and not to count on crowlers.
