As much as I used to enjoy it, the Left Hand Oktoberfest has become way too sweet for me in the last 2 years. It was never exactly on the dry side, but it's like drinking candy corn now. I hope they dial it back a hair next year.
The Dry Dock one is probably the best domestic one I've had in forever. FCB and Grimm know what they're doing, too. I'd imagine Bierstadt's will rock.

Fort Collins has their Octoberfest in cans now. It is solid. I think Left Hand should dial the ABV down on theirs. It is basically a bock as it stands now.

I'm curious about FCB's Oktoberfest. It won GABF gold last year but I worry about consistency with FCB. I didn't have last years version so I have no frame of reference to compare.

    Reasonable concern there... Last year's version was ( . )( . )'s though!

A lot of FCB's beers used to have a weird plastic-like flavor, including the Oktoberfest. Right around when they moved into the newer facility that disappeared. I think the O'fest has been solid for the last 3-4 years. To me it's one of the ones closest to the burnt orange German exports like Paulaner and Spaten.

If it's @Domingo endorsed, then that's good enough for me. May have to pick up a 6er this weekend.

I haven't had this year's version (yet!) but I give the previous versions a thumbs up :stuck_out_tongue:

Last year's iteration was fantastic. I can't imagine much has changed.

Had a great time at Bierstadt today. Both the Slow Pour Pils and the Helles were world class, in my opinion. Food was good and the environment was as well. Got the Pils growler to-go for $9. I'd highly recommend Bierstadt to all lager fans.

Bierstadt lagers are awesome. Stopped by yesterday and enjoyed everything they had on. Love the glassware too, especially that Dunkel glass

I have had a few Bierstadt Pils at Falling Rock in the past few weeks. The beer is great.

And the glass is damn cool...it has a fancy, kind-of art deco, pinkies-out feel.

Had my first Docktoberfest tonight. I'm not sure if I prefer it or FCB. They're both really good, and I'd be happy drinking either one.

Bierstadt's Pils is becoming a common site all over town. Even all the way in A-town I have 2 places that have it within walking distance to my house. Hopefully as they grow we'll start to see the dunkel and hell as well.

The glass (and the beer, too) are a bit of an homage to the pilsners of northern Germany. They're typically served in 11oz flute with a little paper cuff around the base. Most south Germans will drink lagers out of whatever vessel they have handy, but the pils-drinking areas further north focus on the presentation a bit more. Jever's the most beloved one and probably the closest thing to Bierstadt's slow pour.

Picked up a growler of Dry Dock Helles today and glad I did. Tasty, clean, easy drinker focusing on pils malt and accentuated with just enough hop bitterness. Damn good beer.

Comrade released The Hunt for Red Oktoberfest last Friday. It was fermented with Bierstadt's house strain and lagered for 11 weeks.

Had Zwei's Octoberfest on Saturday night at a friends house. Reminded me so much of Docktoberfest, in the best way possible.

I'll be making a trip down there for a growler or two soon.
