Isn't Rainy Daze over by Bangor? I have been meaning to get to Valholl at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later. I already love Marina Market and Pint Defiance, I even have a PD tulip glass (you may have seen the pictures on the WBAYDN threads).

Rainy Daze is moving into the old Sound location.

This certainly factors into what I meant, but was not my main point. I was referring much more to ourselves, who typically bear the greatest share of responsibility in altering and hastening the demise of what we love--and particularly that of little renown or limited supply--by disseminating praise for it. The intentions may be good, but that, alas, doesn't necessarily figure in the outcome. Would that it were otherwise...because I like sharing things with others, and like the part of us that likes sharing things with others best.

It's just that it sometimes pays to be circumspect before we break out the bullhorn in favor of something, lest we force upon it pressures it may not be equipped to handle. I'd like for everyone to see my favorite tucked-away alpine meadow in the North Cascades, but if I told everyone about it and everyone went to see it, it'd quickly be trampled to death and all the roads and trails leading to it would be clogged. I wrestle with this problem often; it's tough to know where and when to draw the line.

That is a language that legitimately frightens me. It gives me images of me sitting in a hospital, with my tongue in traction.

Well, that would go towards establishing a family, wouldn't it?

It is if you visit the trade forums. Or the "Post a picture of your latest haul" thread.

Nobody talking about your great local beer is a good thing.

Unless you want to share the greatness with other people, like other locals.

Did Sound Brewery move? The last time I went there, Sound Brewery was around that area.

Edit: Apparently they did. Now I can stop both both breweries in the same day.

......and catch a movie before or after.

Can do the same with SEEfilm in Bremerton. Free offstreet parking and Toro Lounge one block up is a good place to start/finish.

In all seriousness, why do you believe this? Why is making something easily obtainable to you, that is not demonstrably better (or worse) than any number of beers in that given style, harder for you to obtain, a good thing?

You'll run into this sentiment a lot here. Generally, it's presented as a mixture of humor and truth. While we all really would like to see our favorite local breweries do well, it's tempered by the knowledge that we've got a beer culture that's pretty special. Great beer, but in an atmosphere chill enough that, for the most part, still doesn't include the crazy hype, noise, exclusiveness, whatever, of other areas.

    Amazonians, bro, Amazonians.

OK, technically not the employees of a given monstrosity of a company (after all, I grew up in a Kodak/Xerox/Bausch&Lomb region), but the way modern life has narrowed things, and, especially, in places like, and near, Seattle, that perceptions get skewed.

It's late, I worked hard today, I drank hard, and, there's a female nearby who might be done chatting soon. I'll clarify tomorrow.
