That is my guess as well, however earlier when I posted about recreating the password (before the email came out) I had the allocations they mentioned in the email under the allocations section. So now it seems they are moving backwards in the fixing.

Well then make the decision to decline renewal. That's perfectly fine, but the complaint was that the only reason they renewed last year was to get access to this one beer. That doesn't make sense to me. As I said, I can understand the disappointment and we do make a huge leap of faith on their releases, but they did release 27 NEW beers this year, as well as bringing back 5 others non-annuals (wanderer, OTwC, Blue BBLS, etc.) that were brewed at least two years ago. That's a lot of production.

I would understand if you said that you hated every single release and gained zero enjoyment from any of them or that you dont like the perceived lack of exclusivity now that PS benefits are being ramped up. But that wasn't the argument.

Also there was a huge transition this year. They opened a new tasting room, had a lot of key personnel changeover (Matt Olesh, Carl Katz, Ben Weiss, new Society center leader). They also got the new brew house ramped up, as well as the pilot system.

If all of that is enough to get you to cancel, then be well. You have that right.

2014 - Separating barrels and the other (ineffective) changes they made to try to deal with their infection issues.
2015 - Opening the Terreux production facility and starting to pasteurize at the end of the year.
2016 - Changes in personnel and opening the Terreux tasting room.

How many "transition" years do they get before it becomes an inability to deal with change and growth?

And how many of those 27 "new" beers are just blends of the same old beers

Ok, now that's a much more valid argument for not renewing. But did you gain zero value from your membership in those years? Just wondering, not saying you did or didn't either way.

Rather have Sherbert hoover as a replacement to SITR w/ coconut & pineapple than kumquat

Also, do PS members get to have their beer held like RS & HS or no?

Is there still not work involved in created White Mocha, which I would say was a highlight of the year so far. That sounded like a complex beer to get right from my perspective.

Also do melange 14 and 15 not count as new beers from your perspective? Not attempting to be nasty, just looking for your thoughts.

I was a PS member last year and yes they held my stuff until my trustee or I could swing by.

My guess is that the reasons are loooong and boring  They probably relate to mundane backend stuff that will solve issues we aren't even aware of. They've changed their webstore app, either going to a new provider or their current provider perhaps discontinued the product they were using. My experience of software changes like this is that you loose little features that people love but you gain more down the road. It would make sense to launch the page with bare minimum feature set and then add in other layers when you see that's it's working. It wouldn't surprise me if people start having, "hey, that's cool!" responses to aspects of the website over the coming months! And if they don't, at least they can drown their sorrows.

For PS they will hold until end of the following quarter. So anything bought Jul/Aug/Sep must be picked up or shipped by end of Dec.

@Nick_Suhr ~ Pump the brakes dog. On the historically established scale of "ppl getting mad at The Bruery on BA" this is like a 4.8 out of 10. It'll blow over, folks will renew, those who don't will be quickly replaced. Equilibrium will be maintained.

The not holding things in cart has gotta be a limitation of the new ecommerce or something. No way in hell is that a feature that people wanted....

I dropped out at the end of 2015 so it's not a question of renewing or not, merely pointing out that the "transition year" argument could be made for three straight years now, and while it's not necessarily wrong, it loses steam as a viable excuse when you consider that other breweries manage to grow and deal with change without people having to make excuses for multiple years in a row.

As to whether a received zero value, no, obviously I received value, that's a genuinely stupid question that's either horrendously misguided or an attempt to move the goalposts so far that you're not even on the same field.

I'd be curious to know what your experience is, because my experience in 15+ years of developing web-based software is that losing features is generally a sign of poor planning and/or execution.

Ah, yes, the old "we'll add that feature in the next version." Never heard (or uttered) that one before...

Not to derail the conversation but any hoarders in the new Terreux tasting room? Would love to try BTR, I'll treat you to a bottle or draft  Cheers!

I already like the ability to select a number of bottles on the front page as opposed to going to another page and selecting the amount.

Last year was my 1st year in RS. Previously I kept seeing these great looking beers I couldn't get so that's why I joined. But throughout last year it seemed like they were struggling to keep up with their schedule due to their expansion. So without a question I decided to renew and was super excited about SitR w/ coconut & pineapple.

This year's membership seems like I get first crack at stuff that's going to be released to everyone. I can't make it up much this year or attend the events but that's on me.

I'm going to do it one more year for sure but I just hope The Bruery figures out how to make the societies more exclusive again. Do more small batch limited releases that only we have access to or something.

You make a point but I don't care if its exclusive...my point is if I can buy it at the liquor store down the street then thats better for me then paying for shipping and finding a trustee

Fair points, my assumption is based on Bruery as a purchaser of a web store service with limited customizability out of the proverbial box. I doubt they are developing their own custom site, because I'd totally agree with you.

given that the url in the password recovery email goes through http://vinespring.com/, i'd guess they've got a custom version of their product.

Lots of panties in a bunch about one beer getting bumped. Not saying I'm not bummed, but if they are dumping another Roble Blanco rather than forcing another potentially horrid brew on folks just because it was in the included bottles I'm ok with that.
