Our kegs were bud @ $30.00 per. Your point on HS kids. My oldest, she is now 25, has grown up knowing nothing except craft beer. She brings me home growlers of good NH stuff. Something to think about.

Break, sometimes. 2 fingers of bourbon with a splash of water. But AAL? Nope, not ever. Water, lemonade, lemon seltzer or whatever is around will do just fine. I drink what tastes good, to me. Not a grapefruit fan. So no grapefruit beers for me. Same idea. YRMV.

Every time I go to an office happy hour, I take a "break" from craft (seeing as none is offered) and get to try all of the AAL without ever buying them.

This is getting to be less of a problem though as Goose Island, Victory wheat beers, and even weihenstephaner have all been featured prominently at office happy hours this summer. I may never have to take a "break" from craft again!

In all seriousness though -- I will often take breaks from a style (IPA and stout both recently) but then I will just explore a new craft style (Pilsner and Berliner Weiss both recent fixations).

Not sure why you would ever need to take a break from craft in general.

I would put those beers snugly in the craft category.

If you mean did I like it better than the other AAL's that were popular then? Yup. If you mean was it better than it is now? I have no idea.

I have tried and loved many of the most highly acclaimed beers in the world, but I still go back to stuff like Yuengling and Blue Moon pretty frequently.

People seem to have the false notion in their minds that just because a company is big, they can't make good beer. Oh well, more for the rest of us to enjoy at a fraction of the price.

I throw down a cold High Life every so often, I don't mind it.

Well, IMHO, to a certain extent, it's all "just beer." Drink what you enjoy, and enjoy what you drink.

In my opinion you just don't take a break from craft. I drink what I want, when I want (money providing of course).

Sometimes that means a cold Coors Banquet, sometimes that means a Trappist ale from Belgium.

No shame in having the mass produced stuff once in awhile. Just drink what you want, the rest will sort itself out.

regular genny is awesome and i've been drinking it a lot lately. i might not go back to craft.

only problem is that more stores are selling craft than regular genesee these days.

I've been drinking some of those soda pop beers lately and those are total tastes in the hot weather.

Took a one hour break from craft Saturday night to enjoy an AAL - using it to soak the brats in. My relatives didn't want to soak the brats in a Southern Tier Choklat Stout for some reason. Then back to craft after supper...
