Newest batch of Lil Shimmy is so good! Also really enjoyed the wallaby beer -- very clean and tropical

I brought a growler of Wallaby Whammy to a BBQ last Sunday. Even the Coors Light drinkers were impressed ( until I told them how much it costs)!

I had the Cinder and Cinder (Nitro).

If you've had Mexican Morning Stout from Conclave, Conclave's has more "heat" to it than Cinder, but I still enjoyed Cinder, so for someone who doesn't want all of the peppers just packed in there, Cinder is probably a better option. I enjoyed the Nitro version but it seemed to kill the heat a little.

Also, Wallaby Wheat is pretty damn great.

And of course, I had Lil Shimmy Ye for dinner. Every time I come up here, I enjoy it more and more.

I stopped in there Friday to see how things have improved.

Lil Shimmy Ye is getting real good. Like worth the trip by itself good. I ended up getting a 2nd pour of it because I enjoyed it so much.

I was one of the first pours of Cinder. I think it has potential with a few minor tweaks, but I think comparing it to Mexican Morning is being very generous. I understand the comparison you're making, but if the flavor on Mexican Morning is a 10, Cinder is a muted 6 at best. Plus, you obviously get a much thinner experience with a Porter vs Stout.

I'll also note that I was sweating my ass off in there. I got a flight and by the time I got to the 3rd sample, everything was already warm.

This weeks line up at Twin Elephant. be sure to read the whole post. I give them a lot of credit.
So we have some good news and some bad news . Unfortunately this week we had to dump a batch of beer because it was not up to our standards which makes us pretty thin for this weekend with only 4 beers to pour in the taproom and no growler fills availabe. The good news is the four beers are all delicious and include the popular Lil' Shimmy Ye. Looking ahead we are gearing up for Labor Day weekend to support a high volume of growler fills with some possible extended hours (stay tuned). Also, we have two news beers getting launched next weekend and plenty of options to satisfy all you hop afficionados out there.

    On Tap
Juicy Busey - Hoppy Saison (this round with Nelson Sauvin) - 8.1% ABV (no growler fills)
Cinder - Smoked Porter w/ Cacao Nibs & Chipolte Peppers - 6.3% ABV
Lil' Shimmy Ye' - Pale Ale - 5.3% ABV
    What A Hitter - Cream Ale - 5.5% ABV

    In the Secondary (coming up)
    Shimmy Ye - IPA
Trop Hop - Tropical Pale Ale
Day Works - Summer Ale w/ Ginger & Lemon
Lil' Shimmy Ye - American Pale Ale
Mr. Pinkerton - American Wheat w/ Hibiscus
    Rugged Snuggle - Porter

Even if they only had those four... I'd still go there if I were in the vicinity this weekend.

I enjoyed the beers this weekend much more than my previous trip. Busey had great fruit and spice from the yeast. I'm not a huge saison fan, but I would grab this beer every day. Shimmy was all around solid, a good flagship to build the more experimental beers around, and Cinder crushed it. I'm a huge fan of the Mexican Stouts, and the chipotle and chocolate definitely go well with a porter. I prefer the thicker mouthfeel of a stout, but since this was my first chipotle porter, it was a nice change. The chipotle heat was perfect, it came through as well as any Mexican Stout I've tried, probably better.

I love the environment, such a cool industrial look and laid back vibe. The owners and the staff are super friendly, and the love for their beer is so evident, it's contagious. Look forward to many more visits.

I had my first taste of Twin Elephant over the weekend at a share. Two friends went to TE earlier in the day and loved the Lil Shimme Ye so much they brought a growler to the share. Was super impressed by the beer. Juicy and enjoyable. I'll be visiting soon.

I got high hopes for this batch, seeing as what they have accomplished in other revisions + a new Pinkerton, which was sound from the beginning
