Just saw this. Sorry. But I have no clue. Best bet are the retailers that I mentioned or just hitting the brewery.

I had some Taylor's Row, Sunna Rising, and Hidden Hopyard #4, and actually didn't enjoy any of them. A little too harsh and Sunna kind of had an off/bad homebrew flavor.

Glad I only bought 1 can of Taylor's Row. Not good at all, even less than 2 weeks old.

I will back that up and say that the Grimm sours I have had are not very good, and the hyped hoppy stuff I have had are over-rated (though still good to great). That is my opinion based on a small sample size, but I would definitely not pay the high-end prices Beltway is charging based on my experience to date.

For what it's worth, if you go during their happy hour you can get a discount on those prices.

IMO even more turbid and delicious is Bluejacket's new IPA "Picture Book." I had it last night and it is thick and juicy, bursting with orange citrus and tropical fruit and full of dank earthy goodness. I hesitate to say this but for me it's not far off from Julius (which I drank a growler of the night before last).

Picture Book is also available on cask but I preferred the regular version.

Hmmm.... wonder if that was a different batch. I had Picture Book last night (regular) at Bluejacket and it wasn't turbid, certainly nothing on par with the NE IPAs coming out these days-- I'd call it slightly unfiltered. It seemed like a run-of-the-mill IPA for them-- a bit better than the other ones I've had there, but nothing great.

I have to admit, the recent batch of Lost Weekend didn't suckered either.

I had Picture Book again on Monday night and I agree, it wasn't turbid as before. Either it was a new batch or the old batch had settled a bit. The flavor wasn't quite as juicy as before either but was still very good.

Heard the same thing about Taylor's Row and Citra Splendor but they were both dogshit.

Manor Hill's Grisette is consistently great in cans and on draft, but their IPAs are really hit-or-miss, especially in cans.

Honestly, if they threw some extra bittering hops in the Grisette it'd be one of the best IPAs in the area. It's already really juicy and doesn't have a huge amount of yeast character for a farmhouse beer.

Agreed, particularly Taylor's Row, simply an awful beer. Citra Splendor was okay, but I don't understand what all the fuss is about. It has a really odd balance of flavors, both overly sweet and bitter, and it didn't really do it for me.

The Grisette is an outstanding beer, but I haven't had anything else from Manor Hill that really does it for me.

learn to brew turbid ipa's.... it's not super difficult.. it'll be cheaper then buying them and probably less time intensive after you get the hang of it.. if you are worried about having too much, fill some growlers and hook up some friends once you get good at it

just a thought... not sure if you have a home/place where this is an option but if it's something you are spending tons of time in line/traveling etc and you have the facilities it may be time to investigate brewing... thats what leads to innovation after all

    cheers

Manor hill gets wayyyy too much love. I dislike almost every single one of their IPAs. Usually I get a really weird medicinal taste on the back end. Probably some weird house yeast they use would be my guess.

Does South County out of Fawn Grove, PA make it down to DC/Southern MD? They've been doing some really good NE style stuff lately, including an IPA called Liminal Moment and a galaxy pale ale called Cosmic Nod.

@RKP1967 is right about Hidden Hopyard 5-- it's quite good; in fact, I'd say it's the best beer I've had from them. That said, Manor Hill seems to have a quality control problem. I was at the RAR/Manor Hill event at Meridian Pint on Friday. The keg of their regular IPA was off-- some sort of infection, and some of their barrel aged beers were not quite successful experiments. I've had their beers at the brewery, in cans and on tap a number of times now, and it's a crapshoot-- sometimes they are good, sometimes off/home brew-y.
