When you try to explain the difference in the flavors thrown by lactobacillus and pediococcus to your friends over dinner. They made me stop...

I'd actually like to know what the difference is in flavor? But then again, I'm a beer geek.

My understanding is that pedio makes more complex flavors while lacto makes pretty much straight lactic acid. My non-geeky friends bought it.

I saw a license plate today it was "DFH 5668" (not those actual numbers). I immediately thought of DogFish Head. I realized it wasn't a custom plate. But I was still a little jealous.

You build 4 year+ verticals out of beers you haven't even tried yet

You go on a weekend vacation with the womenfolk and tolerate hours worth of waiting at malls, so you can rightfully leave them waiting outside the out-of-state mega-bottle-shop that turns out to have only two beers on your carefully prepared shopping list of beers distributed there. :slight_frown:

When you plan a vacation simply on brewery tours and out of state distro. (true story)

Oh man, I am glad someone else unconsciously thinks of beer acronyms when 3 or 4 letters definitely stand for something else entirely unrelated.

When you visit your beer shop so often you are known by name.

When the store manager emails you when special beers get delivered so he can hold some for you.

When you spend so much money at the store that you get multiples of the "1 per person" beers.

When people you know, friends and family, who enjoy good beer actively try to get/buy/try etc. a beer and hoping that in telling you about it, you haven't tried it. This thread is cracking me up. Cheers!

You're a beer geek when you pick up your glass of water and, without thinking, you sniff it for aroma characteristics. It happened to me today.

    1. When you run into people who work at your favorite beer store when at a regular store and they stop you and ask how things are going, how are the kids, and hey we have some new releases coming in later this week.
    2. When you are in line at a store and the clerk comments on your beer, you respond how your a BA guy, he responds with so am I, then you feel like your in Fight Club.

Would you say it's a big problem if you look at a random glass in the thrift store and think, "I know the perfect beer for that glass," then buy the glass, and then go immediately to the store for the beer? (Rhetorical question. I did this today. :grinning:)

When your wife sets an alert for your texts to her as the sound of a beer being opened! My wife told me this last night because she noted that the hiss scared the cat.

Unless... your co-workers rely on you to inform them where to go for good beer in a small town/city/rural area you've never heard of, in a state you've never visited.

How was it? Mine was skunky, with notes of sulfur dioxide and a hint of chlorine, plus definite characteristics of limestone terroir on the palate. Last year's was much better IMO.
