ha, i'm kind of relieved it's Vilet cans. Fantastic beer but between the Other Half, Finback and Carton releases I have a fridge packed with more beer than I can drink. If it was There You Are or Day of the Dead I would have to get it. I have little self control haha

Wow. Found this thread buried on page 4... See what happens when the hoppy can train stops rolling! Crickets! In all seriousness tho, anyone know why the sudden halt in hoppy can releases? I saw the 2nd Vliet release and the Table Wheat Beer at Whole Foods, but we were on a roll with the IPA can releases. Hopefully it picks back up soon...

People that routinely visit Three's... please make others aware of the awesomeness that is The Meat Hook's burger. Dear god.

Picked up some Vliet that I'm taking to a BBQ next week.

Enjoyed the Three's dry-hopped saison, but it seemed like we had more of other people's beers than their own. Still, such a great place and we got a beautiful day to go there.

yeah, the burger is pretty awesome. not sure if you had been there before, but they used to have a rotating vendor there, and the meat hook has since taken residency there. stopped by yesterday and the burger was on point. in terms of the "other peoples beers" thing, i find the mindset on their taplist awesome (i.e. yesterday had LIC, industrial arts, interboro, and suarez among others). cool to see a brewery actively welcoming in all the local breweries on their taplines, and featuring many of the "newcomers" right off the bat

I really loved it. From the outside beer garden to the meat Hook, to the ambiance, it was great. It was my first time ever there too

(I just wish the food prices weren't so aggressive.)

I can understand that. It was okay for us. One burger and fries for $21 was enough to feed both of us and it was pure beef bliss.

$21 for a burger and fries is a whole lot of money in Brooklyn, especially at a beer garden style venue.

Ehh, I feel like for an establishment like that and a burger like that, 14-18 for a burger (without fries) is kind of the norm. Compare it to say... Boulton and Watt where it's a $14 burger and $8 side of fries (both awesome, but the rosemary sea salt fries in particular are fantastic) or even BareBurger where your burger is probably 11-14 and fries are extra on top of that.

Edit: and the attention Threes has paid to the food in their space, as indicated by who has been in there to share space, suggests the food they serve is more elevated than "pub grub." When they had Roberta's Pizza there, I don't think anybody would've compared it to a flatbread pizza at their local dive.

I would say $21 is a whole alot of money for a burger at a beer garden for sure - but I haven't had that one yet. Its not served on paper plates is it at least?

$21 is pushing into Spotted Pig / Minetta Tavern territory. For a beer garden burger. In Gowanus.

I've always been a big Threes fan and will continue to drink there, but the food has always been on the very expensive side.

I kind of love that this is becoming the "haggle burger price" thread, but the burger at Minetta Tavern is $21 (24 at dinner) before sides or tax. I'd also argue the meat hook burger is as good and at a venue with a better draft list!

Plus, if you're at Minetta and getting a burger, aren't you getting the black label burger anyways? That is, $30 with fries.

I mean... maybe we're just used to that in my area of NJ?

The burger itself was $13 and it was an added $2 for some thick slab bacon to be added on it and then $6 for a huge portion of fries. I see those prices around here and it really doesn't surprise me, so maybe that's why I'm being so casual about it? It fed two people easily, so I'm just surmising it's about $10.50 per person - maybe that's why I'm not as shocked about it?

I drank a Vliet tonight. Very impressive for a straightforward pilsner.
