Oh geez, this thread is going down the FL vs IA rabbit hole already...

I think my one sampling of Iowa Sue was better, but Florida Sue is fine. I would like to try more bombers considering I really liked NugMo.

Haha, you're right, let's back on track. I know TG has said (Tweeted) that they want to get into the Chicago market, and with their new Decorah brewery under construction I would hope to see some TG brews here soon after completion. I just hope it's more than cans of Dorothy's, Nugget, Rover Truck and Sue.

I'd drink Pseudo-Sue all day. If they send some of the bombers here, that would be sweet. But I cant see the other stuff (rover/dorothy) being much more than shelf turds here after 6 months.

Yeah, Sue disappears in a few days at the place I go to; I feel like the same cans of Dorothy have been sitting there since the beginning of time.

I've seen Dorothy that was 8+ months old sitting on shelves in Wisconsin... Heck last time I was up there I saw 2+ month old bombers of Pompeii ...

Pseudo-Sue in Chicago would just end up being like Zombie Dust ... incredibly hard to find.

What's really bad is when you walk into a place and they still have Dorothy's in six packs of bottles. That hasn't happened to me since late 2015, but I'll bet they're still out there, lurking in the shadows of shady Iowan convenience stores and small town Hy-Vees.

I saw this at a grocery store about a month ago. They still had bottles of Golden Nugget. What's worse is it had a sticker on it that said "made in Iowa!"

Assassin hit WI distro in '14. Mainly Madison area though. One store right up the street from my work near MKE got 3 cases. Lottery and $30 a pop. I imagine it'll make its way here again.

Your not looking very hard if you cant find ZD. I see it all the time even on draft.

Draft is easy, no doubt. Getting bottles is definitely trickier. You pretty much have to be somewhere the day they get it. I wouldn't say it's incredibly hard to find, but I wouldn't say it's easy, either, especially if you don't have the time to hit the right spots at the right time. Of course, if you do have the time to hit the right spots at the right time, then it's easy!

Draft doesn't really apply to what I was talking about.

As for getting bottles - no its not hard if you are at the right place at the right time or have a connection. I don't have too much trouble getting it when I want it - but thats really missing my bigger point. I was just trying to point out that I would anticipate that PseudoSue would sell out very quickly (like a Zombie Dust) and the other stuff would sit.

I probably shouldn't have said "incredibly", but I think for most people its pretty hard to find.

This is exactly what I was thinking. For comparison purposes, you can readily find fairly fresh PseudoSue at most decent liquor and grocery stores in Iowa. I've rarely had a problem getting it after the switch to cans. I've spoken to Iowa friends about this and they tell me they just don't get excited about it anymore. The hype is still there for those bombers that reach distribution, except for Pompeii (which is still an excellent beer).

I see what your saying. Apologies if that came off snarky wasn't my intention. I guess Im not the type to hunt down specific beers often. I generally just pop in and see whats available. I do see ZD quite a bit but I also find myself in a lot of beer stores hahah. Just browsing...

No doubt. A lot of my casual beer drinking friends think it's amazing when I tell them I know when/where to get ZD if I want it. They think it's special just to find Gumballhead.

Was up in Wisconsin today and made the mandatory stop at Woodman's and figured I would check out Tenutas. Awesome place. Got some regular GN and imperial GN. Never heard of it. Anybody else have this before?

They also had a stack of GN bombers with a sign that said Galaxy GN. I couldn't tell from looking at the bottle so passed on that one. And I was a lot of $$$$ in at that point anyway.

As an aside, tried Rover Truck and was actually pleasantly surprised by it.

Nah, you're fine! I think the zombie dust is really hard to find a narrative comes from people who are here in Chicago over the weekend and can never find any around.

For TG bombers that are specially hopped check the date stamp. So those bombers likely said "galaxy" over the date stamp in the neck. The label is always the same so it's otherwise impossible to tell.

Very true. Funny, i was on a walk with the gf last night and the first place we popped into had it. I had a good laugh and she couldn't figure out why. It took a little explaining to her that my "internet beer friends" and I had a good discussion about ZD today. LOL. She didnt seem to find it as funny as I did, ah well.
