If I remember correctly a taster comprised of 4oz of four beers was 8 buck and a 16 pour of their Ipas was 7 bucks. They had four beers on tap- a pale ale, an Ipa, a stout and a farmhouse ale.

Barrel House Z in weymouth MA is doing crowlers tomorrow 4-7pm. it's a tequila barrel-aged german pilsner. i grabbed one tonight, impressive for the style (german pils aint really my thing). i just happened to visit their website after work to see if there were any updates and found out they were doing their thing this week, tuesday-thursday 4-7.

i'm not gonna lie, i'm pretty pumped that there's a place 10 minutes from my house doing nothing but barrel-aged beers lol

River Styx Brewing has confirmed its lease in downtown Fitchburg, MA. Opening next year!

Hoping this will be a great addition to the currently rather slim N. Central MA craft brewery roster!

Counter Weight Brewing Co. in Hamden, CT. Bet the farm and thank me later. Excited for another local destined to succeed.

What's the story with them? Why are they destined to succeed? What is the reason to bet the farm? Info would be more helpful than the blind hyping of a local.

Matt Westfall, head brewer of NEBCO, is behind it. He's leaving NEBCO to open this operation.

I don't know for sure, but isn't that where the nebco brewer is going?

Also, the brewery in Hopkinton in the local market/farm is now planning for October and rebranded from craft life to starting line brewery. They are planning to use hydroponic hops from the hydroponic farm they are co-habitating with.

I don't know any other details, but they are less than a mile from me, so I'll eventually check it out.

More specifically, from the NEBCO thread:

New month, new thread, no more head brewer

    New England Brewing Co.

We know how fast word can spread sometimes so I just wanted to be able post myself that I’ll be leaving New England Brewing Co.
For nearly nine years New England Brewing Co. has been a very important part of my life. My time spent at NEB as Head Brewer and a managing partner has been challenging, rewarding, and a lot of fun. Rob, Matt, Sebastian, and the whole NEBCO team have become like a second family. These relationships are incredibly important to me, and I’m very thankful for all of their support in my new venture starting Counter Weight Brewing Co. Matt and Sebastian have been doing a truly incredible job overseeing production for the last year, and I’m glad a lot of the beers I’ve worked on over the years will be left in their more than capable hands. I know I’ll definitely be drinking whatever they’ll be brewing. I’m very appreciative for the experiences I’ve had and the friends I’ve made during my time at NEB. I hope to run into lots of you in the future!

    ~Cheers,
    Matt Westfall

I only live a couple miles away as well, hopefully the tasting room opens sooner rather than later. Craft roots in Milford in our neck of the woods should be opening soon as well

Exhibit A is up and running in the old Jack's Abby spot on Morton St. Have had the opportunity to try most of their offerings and thought they were solid. Looking forward to what comes out of this spot once they are dialed in.

Agreed on Exhibit A. Very solid so far. Wish the cans were cheaper but whatever (no interest in a pricing convo). I'll still stop by regularly and I think it seems like a no brainer for out of towners visiting JA to stop by this spot. Anxious to try the porter on right now (once this cold goes away), I think Steinberg was behind Mayflower porter, right? Also saw they have their first DIPA in the tanks...

Agreed @jbertsch on the no-brainer for out of towners. Steinberg even said as much in the lead up to opening saying he'd love to get a food truck there on weekends but is happy for people to come grab beers there and then head to JA for more beer and a sit-down meal.
Steingberg was behind the Mayflower porter way back when. I though this new porter they put on was pretty solid, maybe a little thin in mouthfeel, but a solid offering nonetheless.
I'm looking forward to more demo tape beers as well as some flagships getting out into the world.

There is a new brewery opening in Jamaica Plain called Turtle Swamp. It will be on Washington street a block away from Doyle's. I heard it will probably open early next year. Great to see another brewery open up in the city and on public transit. I think the brewer and co-founder is another Harpoon alumni.

Spoke the other day with the gentleman who plans to open Henry and Fran Brewing in West Boylston. He said he's simply waiting on some paperwork. Maybe another three or four weeks, before proceeding with plans.

Was at Exhibit A last night, they've done a nice job with the old Jack's space. Had the porter, kettle sour and pale ale and enjoyed all of them. The porter in particular was excellent. Really like that they're doing cans right out of the gate as well. Go check them out!

Especially since they barely even have a Facebook page, let alone a website.

First post on FB was 9/1. Seems actually beer would be a year or two off.

The brewer has good pedigree, so hopefully this will fly.
