I know JK really was as I live in Texas, but have heard nothing about this: "Jester King Gotlandsdricka from Jester King Craft Brewery, Austin, Texas" and its sounds super weird. A beer made with bread yeast? Can that taste good?

That's what makes it Rare unlike the stuff Odell's, Avery and Alaska are bringing. Still stoked to be going just wish those guys were bringing stuff I don't already have.

honestly, other then Kate the Great, track #8, and Utopias 10ththis is a pretty weak showing for a $100 ticket.

Nothing else strikes me as OMG i need this beer NOW. Some of it (as mentioned above) is off shelf, limited but not super limited brewery releases. Especially beers from our state...whats the deal CO? I'm sure its still gonna be a great event and its an even better cause (which is what its really about) but i expected more...

    Or maybe I'm just spoiled...

I was wishing I'd bought a ticket but when I saw the lineup I was happy I didn't.

Only ones that were a disappointment were Elysian and Odell's. Still hoping the Deconstruction is the previous batch like Domingo mentioned. I've never seen Biere De Mars And Back, can't even find any description of it. Biere De Mars is a decent enough beer so interested what the spin on that is. And any/every time Avery wants to serve uncle jacob's I will gladly take it.

Ticket includes a meal and schwag, still happy I bought tickets.

It has to be the older batch of Deconstruction? Right?

Agreed. I have both of those beers in my cellar. Oh well.

Still looking forward to it... BUT, am disappointed in the offerings from some of the folks (Alaskan - unless its BA, DFH, FW, Elysian, Rogue, LH, Odells, Uinta). Problem with the really sweet offerings (read: KtG) is that the lines will be significant and they'll prolly blow the keg well before the end. Ah - c'est la vie... its still all good but may drive an early departure towards falling rock.

Personally, I'm excited about Surly offering as its not available locally. Maybe there's enough folks coming from out of the CO distro areas to offset the dullness of the local offerings.

I wonder if the 'line up' would be better (although it's pretty darn good) if breweries knew ahead of time if they'd be attending. Perhaps 6 months--so they can brew something rare?
Right now it looks as though breweries are invited, decide to attend, and look at their stash and say, "Hmm...I have this keg of X, we can bring that". Nothing wrong with doing that, but as stated above, some of those beers are on the shelves around here (or in cellars).

Still a good event, with brewers actually attending and interacting.

We really appreciate and value the feedback on this forum. I know a couple of folks say they are disappointed by the list and they are entitled to their opinions. But we stand behind the group of beers that has been put together. Honestly, we are pretty proud of the 34 beers that will be poured.

The brewers who are donating beer have been very genrous. We have a couple of one-off beers prepared just for our event. We have a number of beers that either never were or are no longer commercially available. Others are beers that you have to be lucky to have a bottle in your cellar. (I suspect if you went to that effort and are saving it in your cellar, it must mean you consider it to be special.) All of the beers at the event are hard to get. That does not mean "impossible" to get -- although some are for many beer fans. The quantities produced of many of these beers means that very few people will ever have had the chance to enjoy them. That makes them rare, even if you were one of the lucky people to get a bottle or two through other means.

It comes down to a question of what you consider rare and if the $100 ticket price is worth it. Some people have had an issue with the $100 ticket price from the start, but we think the value of the event speaks for itself. We think this will be an incredible tasting and don't want anyone to feel they have been tricked into buying a ticket. So much so, that I'm willing to refund anyone's ticket purchase who really feels that they bought a ticket to a rare beer tasting and the beer really is not that rare. Just send me a note this week -- by Sept. 22. We have people who want to attend and we don't have extra tickets. We'll make sure you are not disappointed by returning your purchase price and at the same time we will make some other people very happy.

I hope this will be taken in the positive spirit that it was meant. We truly want everyone to have a great time on Oct. 12. Cheers!

I think when you combine the entire list it's well worth it... I'm glad I'm going and not trying to get snobby about it... I just got back from the Barcade Jersey P4P events and talked with others that will be out there and am geeked to go.

    Cheers,

    Os

It will be the one from this year, which is excellent. Only the second time brewed, as I'm sure you know. Cheers!

Alaskan will not be BA, but it will still be quite good. As I'm sure you're aware, it was brewed as a one-time limited edition specialty release to commemorate Alaskan's 25th Anniversary in 2011 and is not commercially available.

Why even bother having Odell at this event when the one beer they are bringing to this is currently available on pretty much all local shelves? I love Odell but if they weren't going to step up for this event they should have just politely declined.

I'm more than happy with the list, but think Odell is mailing it in a little with Deconstruction 2. That's still on shelves all over town. They should've committed some of those infected BA impy stouts they recalled.

This is incorrect. Alaskan's Perseverance Ale (25th Anniversary) is commercially available and currently on the shelves in CO.
