Got refund on two cases. Would rather have had the beer, but only took one month from submission to check arrival. Have 4 good bottles left.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times but...

...if I have one of the bad batch bottles from 2015, does that mean it DEFINITELY is infected or there is just a chance of it being infected? Has anyone opened one of the bad batch numbers recently and it was fine?

Also, uh, what happens if I drink an infected beer besides it tasting bad? Do I become infected too? (half joking there)

That was something that I had been thinking about since the beginning... A sour cherry malty stout sounds really interesting to me and that's how many had described infected regulars.

Good to hear it's mostly true but you should still toss barleywine and coffee!

About a month ago I opened an "infected" date bottle and there was something off about it no doubt but it wasn't undrinkable. A couple days after that I opened another one out of the same case, same date and there was nothing wrong with it at all. Straight perfection. For my "infected" case, it seems to be a roll of the dice or a spin of the revolver cylinder. Hopefully yours turn out to be good!

I'm sure it's been posted but it's so hard to search for a question like this:

November 4th booting date (11/4/15)....has anyone had any that were good from that date?

Their website states “refunds though Sept 15”
Does this mean the envelope has to be post marked by Sept 15?

That's a safe assumption IMO, but I don't think anyone here really knows with 100% certainty. You should send it in ASAP and/or call GI if you want to know for sure.

Interesting, I had a Coffee and a Barleywine that I opened a bottle share in early spring (March?) neither tasted infected. Either I dodged the bullet or perhaps I just got lucky and the infection hadn't developed yet.

Just wanted to let people know if you haven't gotten your refund yet and it has been over 3 weeks give them a call. I sent my letter in on 7/15 and hadn't heard back so I called them yesterday. The woman was very helpful and told me my refund was rejected because they couldn't see one of my neck labels. I was a little pissed but rules are rules. However, out of 13 bottles and they couldn't see one label and the whole submission gets rejected seems a little harsh in my opinion. Especially when they could have sent a rejection letter, email or phone number which all were required to submit on the form.

are you implying she said they aren't going to refund you for the 12 bottles/ labels (we are assuming based on your quoted text) that they could see properly?

if so, that's not likely to raise the : "They're dealing with this issue admirably" bar. beyond that, either clean up the mistake & resubmit or if the rejected label's appearance is damaged in someway, OMIT IT and resubmit your claim ASAP for the 12 bottles.

The neck labels needed to be physically provided in the submission itself. Only the back label was photographed. He cannot resubmit his claim considering he has already sent in the physical neck labels on the original submission. Unless he only provided photos of the neck labels which would completely make sense why the submission was rejected.

Has anyone sent in black and white pictures of the back labels? I don't have ready access to a color printer and would prefer to just to print in black and white. As long as the date is readable, I assume there should be no problem (submission form says nothing about color). That guy's story above though has me worried.

Yes that is correct I only submitted photos and called again to confirm. The woman I spoke to said she noted my submission that neck labels are being sent and will arrive before the 15th. I sent off today and they will have it Monday. Hopefully all goes well. Just wanted to inform people that if you didn't hear anything give them a call before the deadline is here.

Still the weird thing is the woman said the prop was listed as missing neck label with no mention of the other 12 bottles.
