I'll second/third Witch's Hat 'This Guy'. Definitely check out WH.

 

Make sure to drink some Big Doedish at Witch's Hat as well. They tweaked the recipe in the past couple months (lower ABV) improving on an already tasty beer.

And, yes, everyone is correct. This Guy is pretty damn amazing.

Luckily I have a howler that I bought at the bottle release on Sunday. That'll be a good one to kill on Friday night, methinks.

No idea how much effort/cost goes into making that beer, but if they canned it like they do Rez and Train Hopper, it would sell like crazy, methinks. Hell, I'd probably buy a case all by myself.

Also--to second what was said earlier, they are keeping barrel-aged stuff on tap at Witch's Hat all week long. Not always Night Fury, but likely something awesome.

Perrin 98 Problems is what you want to buy on your IPA search. You wont be disappointed.

 

Ellison out of east lansing is doing really good stuff. Most notably Relativity. A little late for the OP but you other MI BAs should seek it out as they are starting to get pretty good distro through out the state.

 

fwiw, Witch's Hat probably had their last canning for quite a long time..They was huge loss of beer during last canning, its not worth it unless they buy their own canning line..

During the canning process a ton of beer was spilled..This has been happening over and over and is a ton of money down the drain...Both I believe (I could be wrong, but i dont believe so) have decided its not "worth it" for either because of the loss

 

Now I feel lucky I grabbed 4 pack of Rez on Saturday.

 

Is that normal or is it because of the specific canning line?

I would assume its the specific line, bad hardware, bad timing, bad automation, something. I can't imagine the big boy canning lines spill much.

Anyway, I would encourage WH to look elsewhere for help with this. Don't give up because the first few tries went badly.

 

Chubby Cheeks at Railtown in Grand Rapids is a little known dark horse in this particular arena.
