It was a little lighter than I remember, from tap. But I was sampling many beers at once. Had a bottle last night, and enjoyed it. Looking forward to trying it compared to my final bottles of b2 and b3. As a side note, I was surprised to see the ratings on BA. Im wondering if this is just because its related to Atrial, and people are expecting something similar. I think its a great looking, tasty, light beer. I think La Vie en Rose should be taken into consideration as one of many reasons to create more Atrial, even if JK doesnt consider it to be their favorite beer. Would be nice to have this show up more often. Again last night, La Vie en Rose was a great introduction to JKs Farmhouse style. A couple of non-craft drinkers thought it was really tart/sour, but warmed up to it. Some of the other JK bottles we offered, they couldnt handle more than a sip or two. This was the same path I took my GF down a few years ago, and now she is following JK releases closer than I am....
This happens every time this beer is released. People think that because its a refermentaton of Atrial berries, that it will taste just like Atrial, and are disappointed that it doesnt. If they just judged the beer based solely on its own merits, not the other beer they think its related to, it would do better re: reviews. I think its a great beer, and stands on its own.
It's best when it's cold and carbonated. Like dry raspberry soda. I like it alot. It's not atrial rubicite but it is its own thing.
Glad to see that this saw distro at Whole Foods Champions! I had friends that drove 3 hours to be told that La Vie was sold out, but I waltzed in for dinner and picked 3 up tonight. Seriously, this happened and is not a troll. If you have any doubts that this store got a case, give them a call and they'll confirm. Why, and how, a Whole Foods in BFE got a case, I have no clue.
They can distribute to who they choose, but I wonder how they make the choice on which stores would get it? Sales?
Ive always enjoyed this beer (see post #2 in this thread, hah) , but thought this years batch was the best so far. Also seemed a little darker pink than I remember. Wish I could have picked up a couple more botles. @jesterkingbeer Both the 2015 and 2016 bottles I have are labelled Batch #4. I may have missed it if it was mentioned last year, but is one of these a misprint?
This is good to hear. VeR is still my favorite JK beer to date...will be hunting down many bottles of this.
Did any La Vie survive last night and make until today? Also, is there also Aurelian Lure left for today? Thanks! Always appreciate how interactive y'all are on this forum.
