I am talking keg to buy and take home. I've been getting tired of the same old ipas and was looking to see if anyone may do kegs to go. Given most places are quite small with limited brew house capacity, it's probably not likely.

You guys are making me glad that I passed on Son of Juice. Found a couple at the Beer Cellar, but ended up balking at the price tag. Went with Navaja, which I had not had the canned version of, and am happy with the decision.

I dare them to try, I'll buy one if they do, but I don't think they can given PW's propensity to go with so much malt/sugar, it wouldn't work for a NE IPA.

I'm craving another Mikerphone DIPA but I haven't caught a whiff of one being in production...

Techno Gorilla, Imp Smells Like Bean Spirit, & Blue Hast Mich have me excited but man, give me the haze Mr. Mikerphone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friends and I split a four pack of Cumulus yesterday during the Bear game, nobody was really impressed. Son of Juice is not what'd I'd call a NE IPA at all (was hardly even hazy).

Overall I haven't really been impressed with all of the recent "NE IPAs" coming out of Chicago outside of what Mike makes. I'm probably going to start skipping them in favor of all of the amazing midwest IPAs we have access to.

Probably not a huge factor but that Cumulus you had was canned 8/20...

That should be another attribute to NE IPAs- if it is more that a few days old, it isn't a NE IPA no matter how hazy, smooth, or juicy. When will someone develop a hop that won't fade?

I would count Cumulus amongst the "amazing midwest IPAs" myself, but if you're looking for something "true to style" I can definitely see passing on it (and obviously, I'm not saying that anyone who doesn't like Cumulus is wrong. Just saying that I don't discount it simply because it's not quite an NE IPA). My SoJ was pretty hazy (as my kind of shitty pic a page or two back showed), but every time one of these beers comes out, people manage to have very clear pours, so I guess that's just the nature of the beast.

Have we gotten so crazy now that three week old beers are now no good? Geez...

Yeah, honestly, we weren't even drinking it to try and chase the NE style (I am the only one in the group who really even knows what it is) and we all felt it was just a solidly average beer.

It's got nothing on a bunch of the other beers getting made in the midwest, just my opinion obviously...

are you saying you think lizard king is a NE style IPA?

I think that was a reference to PW only making really malty/sweet beers. I actually thought of LK too; I think they'd crush it if they went after a LK-style NE IPA (since LK is already so balanced).

Nah, no problem here; everybody's taste is different. I'd probably give it another shot super fresh, but I'm drinking a Stratus from July as I write this, so I wouldn't be surprised if your opinion doesn't change.

    More for me!

Discovered this thread a few days ago after hearing so much about this style and being intrigued. Decided to check out Printers Row and Warehouse after work and was able to grab these.

Whoa! What the! Printers row just holding on to some SS 6 bottles! SS 6 was from like a month ago. I wouldn't be surprised given my past shady experiences at printers row. I can't imagine Mike being too thrilled with his beer sitting around in storage when there are so many people that want them. Great find for ya if ya walked in and just picked one up, hehe while the rest of us has been chasing them down. Enjoy indeed! Cheers. Great NE IPA from Mikerphone.
