I saw it at LP Binny's yesterday, and I may have seen it at a Whole Foods a couple days ago.

the stuff that just hit the west suburbs is 9/8. I know month old beer is terrible. So drive to the burbs for your freshies

I'm not against buying a month old IPA. But I think it's unfortunate that a Chicago brewery sat on their newly released cans for 2-3 weeks before they went 30 miles west

^Agreed. While I'm not against month old + IPAs either there's so many truly delicious Chicago IPAs I grab whatever is freshest at the store. Between selections from Pipeworks, Revolution, Half Acre, etc. it's rare I don't find something less than 2-3 weeks old. It's a very nice problem to have.

If you're getting stuff in the Cayman Islands that fresh from Chicago breweries, color me impressed.

I thought the theory was that it was a distribution thing, not a brewery decision? Who knows.

Is it too early to speculate on big hugs and possible variants?

Would love to see a BA variant.

Separately, I would also like a bit bigger mouthfeel in the line-up. Although I enjoyed them all (maple the most), I thought they were just a bit too thin.

I think it's often a distribution issue going across country. But if a brewery knows they're releasing a beer on 9/1 (at taproom anyways) and filling them on 8/15 then they are at least partly responsible

Agreed, although I have to think the recent NE IPA craze (or really, the "fresh" IPA craze in general) has affected our expectations of freshness. It used to be cool to find something bottled the same week, and now with Mikerphone, Hubbard's, etc releasing their stuff same/next day, a two week old pack of Goneaway just doesn't seem as sexy. Maybe some of these guys have been caught off guard by it.

Is the bar and eatery at Half-Acre kid friendly? Meeting up with some friends who may need to bring their kids.

Generally yes - only caveat is that it just can get crowded.
